Patent number: 7703446Abstract: Engine management system for operation of a direct injection spark ignition gasoline engine. The system includes a gasoline engine, a source of gasoline and a source of an anti-knock agent. Gasoline and anti-knock agent are introduced into a proportioning valve that delivers a selected mixture of gasoline/anti-knock agent to a high pressure pump. At least one injector receives the selected mixture from the high pressure pump and delivers the mixture into a cylinder of the engine. The engine management system provides a rapidly variable mixture of directly injected anti-knock agent and gasoline which prevents knock as the engine torque increases.Type: GrantFiled: July 24, 2007Date of Patent: April 27, 2010Assignee: Ethanol Boosting Systems LLCInventors: Leslie Bromberg, Paul Blumberg, Daniel R. Patent number: 7698984Abstract: A ballistic projectile resistant barrier apparatus combines the advantages provided by both high hardness material barriers and multiple laminate layer barriers. An outer tier of the barrier is comprised of a plurality of interconnected hard tiles. Each of the tiles has an outer, front surface designed that, upon impact by a ballistic projectile, the projectile is immediately deflected from its initial path. Subsequent tiers of the barrier are comprised of layers of a flexible material interspersed with layers of a ballistic liquid or at least one layer of ballistic fiber. When tiles are impacted by a projectile, the impacted tile is pushed into the laminate layers of the barrier, thereby substantially multiplying the area of the barrier that resists the impact force of the projectile as the projectile enters the barrier.Type: GrantFiled: March 8, 2005Date of Patent: April 20, 2010Assignee: Defbar Systems LLCInventors: Richard L. Patent number: 7696634Abstract: Flexible and elastic mechanisms for extracting power from a moving fluid. Sheet-like material is deformed during fabrication through an applied force so as to create undulations in said material, whose stresses are maintained through restraining components, thereby maintaining the occurrence of said deformations in the material. When placed in moving fluid, the resulting pressure differentials cause the positions of the undulations within the material to travel along said material in the same direction as the moving fluid. Power is extracted in one of two principle ways. The first is via a mechanical coupling of the sheet-like material to a rotating mechanism, which turns an electro-magnetic dynamo or other output device. The second is via the utilization of a flexible material which exhibits an electrical response to mechanical strain, whereby the strains caused by the travel of undulations along the material create an electrical current which is extracted via two or more electrodes.Type: GrantFiled: September 30, 2008Date of Patent: April 13, 2010Assignee: Pliant Energy Systems LLCInventor: Benjamin Pietro Filardo

Patent number: 7693374Abstract: Fiber optic distribution cables and methods for manufacturing the same are disclosed. The methods present one or more optical fibers outward of the protective covering for distribution of the same toward the subscriber. Specifically, the methods include presenting a length of distribution optical fiber outward of the protective covering that is longer than the opening at access location. After the opening is made in the protective covering at the access location, the optical fibers for distribution are selected. Then a tool according to the present invention is positioned about the optical fibers selected for distribution and slid within the protective covering of the fiber optic distribution cable until it reaches a cutting location within the fiber optic distribution cable. Consequently, the tool is positioned for cutting the distribution optical fiber at a cutting location within the fiber optic distribution cable at a downstream location.Type: GrantFiled: May 11, 2006Date of Patent: April 6, 2010Assignee: Corning Cable Systems LLCInventors: Joseph T.
