  • Patent number: 7379736
Abstract: The invention relates to methods and systems for selectively controlling network selection in an area covered by at least two mobile communication networks. According to the first method, the area which is to be covered is divided up into zones and a specific code is allocated to each individual zone. Said codes are stored in a storage system and the network is selected on the basis thereof. Alternately, a correlation is made between information on a subscriber identification module (SIM) and signals from a cell broadcast channel which is used to select the network.

  • Patent number: 7369154
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for transmitting additional data within a video data transmission between a transmitter and a receiver according to the prioritized pixel transmission method, wherein the video data consist of individual pixel groups, and each pixel group has a position value within an image array and has at least one pixel value, wherein the minimum size of the image array is defined by the height h and width b of a video image, given in picture elements. The invention is characterized in that during the transmission of the additional data, position values are used that do not occur in the actual video data but are assigned to an offset range of the image array.

  • Patent number: 7359560
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for compression and decompression of pixel-based image data. Each pixel first has the pixel value determined. A pixel difference value is then determined for each pixel, from a given number of neighboring pixels, which results from the difference in the pixel value for the pixel in question to each of the neighboring pixels thereof. The pixel difference values are then sorted in descending order. Each pixel used for the calculation of a pixel difference value is assigned to a pixel group. The pixel groups obtained thus are stored according to the descending sorting of the pixel difference values. For regeneration of the image the pixel groups with the highest pixel difference values are first loaded. A triangle is formed from the three closest pixel groups. The surfaces of each triangle are filled in a coloring process, calculated from the color values of the pixel groups forming each of the three corners of the triangle.

  • Patent number: 7319856
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for the selection, transmission and playback of pieces of music by subscribers of a digital mobile network, whereby a plurality of pieces of music is saved in digital form on a database server. The inventive device is characterised in that the database server is dialled up by a mobile terminal via the mobile communication network and a desired piece of music is selected. The selected piece of music is then transmitted in the form of digital audio data from the database server to the mobile terminal via the mobile communication network and is played back on the mobile terminal. The invention also relates to a mobile radio terminal which is suitable for carrying out said method.

  • Patent number: 7319679
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for reducing the latency in a GPRS network, via which information is transmitted between a data requesting unit, i.e. a client (1), and a data-providing unit, i.e. a server (9), in the form of data packets. In order to transmit the data packets from the client (1) to the server (9), at least one first communication channel (UL-TBF) is opened and then closed. At least a second communication channel (DL-TBF) is then opened and closed for transmitting information from the server (9) to the client (1). A not insignificant latency is thus produced between the request for information and the receipt of information, which can be reduced, according to the invention, by opening the second communication channel (DL TBF) before closing the first communication channel (UL-TBF). A radio channel is thus provided for preventive purposes, for the feedback of the requested data.

  • Patent number: 7319855
Abstract: A method is provided for a mobile telephone users to pay small individual fees for certain content when surfing the Internet using a mobile telephone terminal, for example, a WAP-enabled terminal. The method establishes a payment gateway which is accessible by the mobile telephone Internet user via the mobile telephone terminal and by a provider via a provider server. Customer data of the user is held securely in a database of the payment gateway and is not transmitted over the Internet or held in the mobile terminal. A micropayment account opened at a bank is synchronized continuously with the payment gateway. To provide payment of fees for content, a reservation of a certain amount is made in the payment account via the payment gateway and is authorized by the user to the provider allowing the provider to debit amounts against the reservation.

  • Publication number: 20070275731
Abstract: The invention relates to an electronic toll system for traffic routes, said system being designed on the basis of commercial GSMIUMTS mobile telephones or comparable appliances such as a PDA, car phones etc., with a GSM function, and to a method for the operation thereof. In each mobile radio network, data of the respective radio cell is transmitted to the radio telephone via an organization channel. According to the invention, said information supplied by the base transceiver stations is used to record the radio cells crossed by the toll customer. The collected data is transmitted to a central toll station. The toll traffic route taken by the vehicle can be deduced with high precision, by comparison with databases relating to existing traffic routes, on the basis of the series of crossed radio cells transmitted by the terminal of the toll customer. According to the invention, no changes need to be carried out on the hardware of current mobile radio systems and terminals.

  • Patent number: 7277435
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for carrying out monitoring in packet-oriented telecommunication networks and data networks. The method makes it possible to reduce the processor performance required to carry out legal monitoring of telecommunication subscribers in switching nodes of packet-oriented telecommunication and data networks. To reduce the high number of comparably short data packets which must be respectively compared with the full list of subscriber connections which are to be monitored throughout the network and the computer power resulting therefrom required to carry out the tasks in each network node, the method is based on a reduced individual node list which is automatically generated and maintained and the number of individual verifications is kept to a minimum within a network node.

  • Publication number: 20070161373
Abstract: A method for mobile radio suppliers to provide or share or jointly use a mobile radio access network is provided. Said method is characterized in that a single radio access network (9; 12), which is operated according to UMTS standard, cdma2000 standard, or GSM standard, for example, is jointly used by several mobile radio suppliers. In order to do so, the mobile radio networks comprise a common radio access network but separate core networks. Preferably several PLMN IDs are transmitted by the common radio access network and are made available to the user terminal for selection. The inventive method allows a joint radio access network to be made accessible to different mobile radio suppliers, a mobile radio user selecting one of several transmitted preferably PLMN IDs and using services (CS or PS) via the associated core network of the selected mobile radio operator.

  • Patent number: 7212662
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for the compressed transmission of image data for a three-dimensional representation of scenes and objects. A known method for transmitting video data between an emitter and a receiver according to the method for prioritised pixel transmission, can be advantageously used for transmitting and processing three-dimensional objects and scenes, or the corresponding additional data in that each scene/object is taken from at least two perspectives, one perspective being associated with the actual image array and the at least one other perspective being associated with an offset region of the image array. A larger number of pixel groups are transmitted from the actual image array than from the offset region, the pixels of the missing pixel groups of the offset region being calculated from the already transmitted pixel groups of the image array.
