  • Patent number: 7206570
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for providing price information to subscribers of a digital mobile communication network. The aim of the invention is to inform the subscriber of the cost of a call he/she is about to make, in a simple manner. To this end, when the subscriber dials a call number, he/she obtains information on the rate to expect for a communication by means of short messaging service (SMS).

  • Patent number: 7206318
Abstract: A method for the improved exploitation of resources between telecommunications networks and IP networks (for example, corporate LANs or the public Internet) for reducing the costs of permanent connections (always-on connections) and for optimizing IP address economy. During the periods when there is no traffic, the connection between the telecommunications network and the IP network is deactivated, while the subscriber-side connection is maintained. When the subscriber has new data traffic, the RC automatically activates the IP connection concerned to the ISP with reversion to the stored authentication data.

  • Patent number: 7203836
Abstract: A method for mutual authentication of components in a network using a challenge-response method, including the steps of requesting at least one data pair including a first random number and a first response from an authentication center, passing the first random number to a terminal which uses an internally stored key and the first random number to calculate the first response, sending the calculated first response to the network, sending a second random number from the terminal to the network, and responding to the second random number with a second response calculated in the authentication center. The first response sent from the terminal to the network is also used as the second random number, and the network has previously requested the second response from the authorization center together with the first random number and the first response as a triplet data set.

  • Publication number: 20060274951
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for the compressed transmission of image data for a three-dimensional representation of scenes and objects. A known method for transmitting video data between an emitter and a receiver according to the method for prioritised pixel transmission, can be advantageously used for transmitting and processing three-dimensional objects and scenes, or the corresponding additional data in that each scene/object is taken from at least two perspectives, one perspective being associated with the actual image array and the at least one other perspective being associated with an offset region of the image array. A larger number of pixel groups are transmitted from the actual image array than from the offset region, the pixels of the missing pixel groups of the offset region being calculated from the already transmitted pixel groups of the image array.

  • Patent number: 7133680
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for allocating frequencies to base stations in a mobile telephone network, especially a method for automatically resetting frequencies already allocated in the case of non-saturated base stations and re-allocating frequencies to said base stations. Firstly, frequencies are allocated to base stations using any known prior art method. In the case where no non-saturated base station is present, a complete frequency plan is obtained. However, if some base stations are not saturated, the inventive method is carried out: the current frequency allocation is reset and a new frequency allocation is carried out automatically. A parameter, the resetting extent parameter, is used to determine to which extent the resetting method is implemented.

  • Patent number: 7130347
Abstract: A method for compressing and decompressing video data consisting of an array of individual image points (pixels). Each pixel has a pixel value that changes with time and that describes the colour or luminosity information of the pixel. A priority is allocated to each pixel and the pixels are then stored in a priority array according to this priority allocation. The array contains at each moment in time the pixel values that have been classified according to the priority allocation. The pixels and the pixel values that have been used to calculate the priority allocation are transmitted or saved according to the priority allocation. A pixel receives a high priority if the differences in relation to its neighbouring pixel are great. For the reconstruction process, the current pixel values in each case are reproduced on the display.

  • Publication number: 20060229884
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for enabling a combination of several individual products (product bundle) to be identified clearly in order to track said products according to the components thereof for the sale and premiumization thereof when said product bundle is purchased. The product bundle comprises a mobile radio terminal and SIM card. A clear material Number is allocated to the mobile radio terminal and a clear chip card Identification Number (U)ICC-ID is allocated to the SIM chip card. According to the inventive method, the mobile radio terminal and the chip card are combined with each other in an EAN data bank by means of the Material Number of the terminal (optionally IMEI) by means of a European Article Number (EAN) for said product bundle. Combination to form a new product makes it possible to market terminal-specific and/or service-specific packets with mobile radio cards in a package/bundle.

  • Patent number: 7116653
Abstract: The invention concerns a procedure to adapt the operating mode of a multi-mode codec to the changing transmission conditions in a CDMA mobile transmission network. The object consists of the coordination of the adaption of the codec operating modes in both transmission interfaces involved. This is achieved by a constant polling regarding the quality of transmission on the transmission segments during a communication connection, where a change in transmission quality for any unit involved in the transmission initiates a change of codec operating modes and where the present or future change in codec operating mode is passed to the other units involved in the transmission.

  • Patent number: 7072646
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for distributing keys to subscribers in communications networks, in particular digital mobile radio networks. These keys are required, for example, for access to added value services. In this case, there is a problem in distributing the keys securely and, above all, in an uncomplicated manner, to the subscribers. According to the invention, this is achieved by the keys being generated, and possibly stored if required, in a security device provided at the mobile radio network end and, on request by a subscriber, by at least one key being requested from the security device, being allocated to the subscriber, and being transmitted via the mobile radio network to the subscriber's mobile station.

  • Patent number: 7058404
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for carrying out a so-called “blind handover” in an intersystem and interfrequency handover in mobile communication systems and builds on the fact that before the handover a mobile station is supplied by several base stations, i.e., in addition to the supplying base station, it can also receive signals from several other base stations. According to the invention a propagation time measurement is carried out at the air interface by the mobile station of the signals received from the base stations. The measured propagation times are transmitted to one of the base stations. Thereupon the residence site of the mobile station is determined on the part of the mobile communication network based on the transmitted propagation time measurement data.
