    Abstract: A cutting insert is configured for shoulder milling cutting. The insert has a pair rectangular end surfaces which face away from each other, and pairs of first side surfaces and second side surfaces connecting the end surfaces. First cutting edges and second cutting edges in the first side surface are diagonally symmetrical with respect to a first imaginary median plane, which transverses the middles of both the first side surfaces. The first cutting edges and the second cutting edges in the second side surface are diagonally symmetrical with respect to a second imaginary median plane, which transverses the middles of both the second side surfaces. The second cutting edge is offset toward the first median plane from the first cutting edge. The first cutting edge is offset toward the second median plane from the second cutting edge.

A side surface of the cutting insert contacts a side wall of the insert pocket at a first contact portion. A head of the clamp pin contact an inner peripheral surface of a bore of the cutting insert at a second contact portion. The first and second contact portions are located such that a moment acts on the cutting insert toward the base wall of the insert pocket around the first contact portion.

The screw has a head portion, a threaded portion and a portion for connecting the head portion to the threaded portion. The pocket portion has a bottom surface with a screw hole formed thereon into which the threaded portion is fastened. It also has a side wall comprising a surface for closely contacting the head portion of the screw. The head portion of the screw closely contacts and resiliently pressurizes the close contact surface of the pocket portion when the threaded portion is fastened into the screw hole.

    Abstract: A cutting insert having a plurality of corner cutting edges has an upper face, a lower face, two longitudinal side faces and two transversal side faces connecting the upper face and the lower face. A through hole passes through central parts of the upper face and the lower face. The longitudinal side faces are opposite to each other and normal to both upper and lower faces, as are the transversal side faces. The upper face and the lower face are each provided with two chip discharge grooves, each chip discharge groove extending along a corresponding one of the transversal side faces, the two chip discharge grooves being inclined oppositely in the transverse direction so that the upper face and the lower face are each provided with two corner cutting edges at diagonally opposite corners. The longitudinal length of the insert is longer than the transversal length of the insert. The cutting insert can be mounted stably to a small-diametered cutter with a sufficient mounting surface.

    Abstract: A cutting tool is suitable for cutting a composite material. A drilling tool according to one embodiment includes a drill body and a shank. The drill body includes ribs formed in a spiral shape along the axis direction of the drill body, chip discharging grooves formed between the ribs, and a drill head formed at one end of the drill body where the shank is not formed. The drill head is formed in a multi-stage and first and second cutting edges are formed interposing a step portion therebetween, and the second cutting edge is formed toward the drill head. A point angle of the first cutting edge is 90° to 130°, a dish angle of the second cutting edge is 5° to 15°, and a twist angle between the chip discharging groove and the rotational axis of the drill body is 20° to 40°.
