  • Publication number: 20100091086
Abstract: A method, device, and computer-readable-medium are disclosed for processing images during a conference between a plurality of video conferencing terminals. The method uses a processor to input a first image from a first camera at a first video conferencing terminal, a second image from a second camera at a second video conferencing terminal, and a third image from a third camera at a third video conferencing terminal. The processor then generates a first composite image that has the third image inserted at a first position into the second image, and a second composite image that has the third image inserted at a second position into the first image. The first position and the second position are located in horizontally opposite portions of the first composite image and the second composite image, respectively. Further, the first and second composite images are sent to the first and second video conferencing terminals, respectively.

  • Patent number: 7697553
Abstract: The present invention discloses a method of detecting overproduction of data when an H.323 endpoint is transmitting more video or other data than initially negotiated, and makes it produce less by utilizing standard flow control procedures. Flow control messages are sent periodically, incrementally instructing the H.323 endpoint to transmit lower amounts of bit rates, until the video rate received from the endpoint is equal to or lower than the initially negotiated rate, or some other fixed rate.

  • Publication number: 20100073454
Abstract: A computer-implemented interface for a local telepresence video conferencing facility, pre-assigns displays at the local telepresence video conferencing facility to respective video images from remote telepresence video conference facilities such that respective video images from the remote telepresence video conference facilities will be displayed on corresponding displays at the local telepresence video conferencing facility once communications connections are made. A controller pre-assigns the displays according to control commands from a tactile input device prior to establishing the communication connections with the remote telepresence video conference facilities. A touchscreen display presents avatars of remote conference participants to illustrate pre-assignments of displays to particular remote telepresence video conference facilities prior to the communication connections being made.

  • Patent number: 7684489
Abstract: A unified solution to coding/decoding of different video formats such as 4:2:0, 4:2:2 and 4:4:4 is provided. A method of video coding includes transforming a first m×n macro block of residual chrominance pixel values of moving pictures by a first integer-transform function generating a corresponding second m×n macro block of integer-transform coefficients, further transforming DC values of the integer-transform coefficients by a second integer-transform function to generate a third block of integer-transformed DC coefficients. The method further includes generating the second m×n macro block of integer-transform coefficients by utilizing a k×k integer-transform function on each k×k sub-block of the first m×n macro block, wherein n and m are each a multiple of k, and generating the third block of coefficients by utilizing a second i×j integer-transform function on the DC values resulting in a (m/k)×(n/k) third block of integer-transformed DC coefficients.

  • Patent number: 7684384
Abstract: A method and a gateway provide for down speeding the data rate at the circuit switched side of a call being translated in the gateway if the packet switched side does not have sufficient bandwidth capabilities for matching the circuit switched data rate. The gateway compares the bandwidth of the circuit switched and packet switched sides of a call after establishing the connection. If the packet switched side of the call is connected at a lower rate than the circuit switched side, e.g., because of insufficient capabilities of the packet switched endpoint, the gateway initiates a down speeding procedure at the circuit switched side. The down speeding procedure disconnects a number of B-channels of the circuit switched connection to make the call rate equal or lower than the call rate of the packet switched side of the call.

  • Patent number: 7679648
Abstract: The present invention utilizes video compression techniques in providing multi display and user control of picture layout with a single non-mechanical camera. According to a preferred embodiment of the present invention, a subsection of interest within a general view captured by the camera is coded based on the prediction of the main picture. In one aspect of the embodiment, scaling of the predicted pixel values in the subsection to match with the corresponding raw pixel data of extended resolution is carried out before subtracting the prediction from the raw data to provide the residual in the coding process. In a second aspect, the frame rate and the number of quantization intervals are increased when coding the subsection relative to the coding of the general view.

  • Patent number: 7675538
Abstract: The present invention allows administrators of conference equipment, remotely localized from the ordinary managing interface, to execute simple commands for solving a problem that may have occurred during a conference or at conference set up. This is provided by a parser translating user terminal commands transmitted from the user terminal (e.g. a cellular phone) of the system administrator to Conference Management System codes, which are executed on the conference equipment in question from the Conference Management System. The present invention also allows system administrators to be alerted by a message (e.g. SMS) at any errors occurring during a conference or conference set up, and to correct the errors by responding to the alert without the need of addressing the equipment in which the errors occur.

  • Patent number: 7660471
Abstract: The invention is related to video compression systems, and in particular to compression/decompression in digital video systems. The present invention discloses a method for compensating the rounding and truncation error when calculating ½ and ¼ position pixels for motion vector prediction. According to the invention, the rounding/truncation offset is attenuated by properly shifting up or down the result of the calculation of the ½ position pixel values. A method alternating occurrences of converting up and converting down interpolated pixel values to nearest integers in the cases where the pixel values are decimals with fractions of 0.5. In a preferred embodiment, each motion vector is assigned either a first or a second notation, so that converting up or down in a predicted block depends on the assignment of the motion vector corresponding to the prediction block. The present invention is particularly useful in the coding standard H.264/AVC.
