Abstract: A jig securing alignment and positional accuracy in all directions (x, y, z) for an electrical component to be soldered to a PCB is provided. The jig positions the IC in the x and y directions, and keeps the IC from rotating. The jig also holds the IC down during the soldering process to make sure that the IC remains parallel to the PCB before, during and after soldering. The jig attaches to mounting holes on the PCB and its placement can be automated or performed manually.
Abstract: A video teleconferencing system uses digital transcoding to obtain algorithm transcoding, transmission rate matching, and spatial mixing. The video teleconferencing system comprises a multipoint control unit (MCU) for allowing multiple audiovisual terminals, which send and receive compressed digital data signals, to communicate with each other in a conference. The MCU has a video processing unit (VPU) that performs algorithm transcoding, rate matching, and spatial mixing among the terminals within a conference. The VPU includes a time division multiplex pixel bus and a plurality of processors. Each processor is assignable to an audiovisual terminal in the conference and is coupled to the pixel bus. In a receive mode, each processor receives and decodes compressed video signals from its assigned terminal and puts the decoded signal onto the pixel bus. In a transmit mode, each processor receives from the pixel bus uncompressed video signals from any terminal in the conference.
Abstract: An video call management apparatus and associated methodology of controlling interactive voice and video responses is provided. A calling party is identified as an agent or a caller based on a set of agent identities. The calling party is then provided with an agent main menu, when an agent is identified, or a caller main menu when a caller is identified. An agent can be connected to the caller in a sub-queue entry, and a caller can be placed in an existing sub-queue or a new sub-queue can be created if it does not exist. Videomail from a caller for playback to an agent is also received, and the agent may call the caller during or after playback of the videomail. The agent is presented with a system video message containing information and statistics on a completed call.
Abstract: A method for automatically determining an orientation and zoom of an image pickup device associated with a video conferencing system, wherein the method includes the steps of: generating, at the image pickup device, an image signal representative of an image framed by the image pickup device; processing the image signal to identify objects plural users of the video conferencing system in the image; steering the image pickup device to an initial orientation; determining a location of all the identified objects relative to a reference point and determining respective sizes of the identified objects; defining an area of interest in the image, wherein the area of interest includes all the identified objects; and steering the image pickup device to frame the defined area of interest including all the identified objects where a center of the frame substantially coincides with a center of all the identified objects.

Abstract: An audio communication system and method with improved acoustic characteristics features a stereo detector that is introduced in the echo canceller of the system. When stereo in far-end audio is detected, converging of the adaptive mono model of the canceller is suspended, and when stereo in far-end audio is not detected, converging of the adaptive stereo model of the canceller is suspended. The system may also be extended with a miscellaneous processing unit configured to attenuate the signal at certain events implying a large stereo echo contribution. A stereo collapsing unit is also introduced on the channels of the far-end audio to remove the stereo image at certain events to further suppress the echo contribution.

Abstract: A system, apparatus, method, and computer program product for establishing secure videoconferences between multiple nodes communicating via two or more transport protocols in which at least one encryption protocol is used.
Abstract: The present invention discloses a method for an intuitive and easy-to-use multi-site ad hoc conference initiation by involving some or all features of a conference managing system. The main concept is to automatically reserve the resources needed to connect selected participants in a conference once the ad hoc conference is requested by the calling party.
Abstract: A video conferencing system provides realistic presence of participants in a videoconference by way of standards-based communication. The system includes three large displays, and at least one slave codec and one camera for each display. In addition, there is an extra codec installed which is the master codec. The master codec is able to establish a conference by instructing the slave codecs at its own site and at the other participating sites to set up point-to-point connections with other slave codecs at different participation sites in a pattern providing an optimal feeling of natural communication so that when a user A talk to user B at another site, user B will experience that the user A turns to him.

Abstract: A method including: calculating a prediction of a first block of pixels in a second video frame with a temporal position between a first and a third video frame from a first motion vector of pixel position components relative to spatial pixel positions of the first block referring the first video frame and a third motion vector of pixel position components relative to spatial pixel positions of the first block referring the third video frame, wherein a second block of pixels in the third video frame spatially collocated with the first block is predicted from a second motion vector of pixel position components relative to spatial pixel positions of the second block referring the first video frame.
Abstract: A sound recording and/or sound reproducing part loosely anchored/connected to a second part wherein the sound recording and/or sound reproducing part is levitated on a magnetic field. The sound recording and/or sound reproducing part and the second part in combination forms a first sound recording and/or sound reproducing device. The sound recording and/or sound reproducing part can be used within on or more of the following devices; a loud speaking telephone, a telephone, wireless communication equipment, a mobile phone, a Bluetooth device, a videoconference terminal, a hearing aid or active ear protection equipment.
Abstract: A method of video coding/decoding that includes transforming to/from transform coefficients and residual pixel data in moving pictures by a set of vectors. Two alternative vector sets are disclosed both providing an optimal balance between good performance and simplified computation.

Abstract: A hoisting mechanism comprises two main modules; a base (1) and a top-section (8). The base supports two concentric rings (2 and 3) with three or more flexible links (5 and 6) pivotally connected to each ring. There is one inner (6) and one outer (5) set of links, where the inner (6) set is pivotally connected to an inner ring (2) and the outer (5) set is pivotally connected to an outer ring (3). A ring (4) at the top is connected to all of the flexible links with rotary joints (9). When the two rings (2, 3) in the base are rotated in opposite directions, the flexible links (5 and 6) will force the top ring (4) to move up or down depending on the direction of which the concentric rings are turned.
Abstract: Management information for plural video calls is presented through a user interface that displays a list of calls prioritized based on one or more parameters, such as alarms, so that the most important calls are prominently displayed as they need attention. An alarm tracker tracks alarms associated with video device parameters, such as jitter, latency and linearity, and an alarm priority module determines the priority of video calls for display by comparing the alarms associated with the video calls. In one embodiment, the user interface has a locking option to lock a call's display position, for instance when a particularly important call with a lesser number of alarms nonetheless has a need for closer monitoring.

Abstract: Hot deployable video management modules maintain a video device management platform by integrating independently developed support for new or updated video devices at runtime. A video device module loader builds a management interface for the new or updated video device associated with the management module based on attributes and operations of the video device defined by an XML descriptor and based on access instructions. The management interface is used to create a video device instance in the management platform for each video device under management. The management platform manages a variety of different types of video devices with a video device management module added as a given video device is added to the management platform or an already managed video device is updated.
