Abstract: According to various embodiments, a case for a portable electronic device includes first and second panels and a bottom wall defining an interior storage compartment in which an internal support is coupled to the two panels. The internal support is configured to provide convenient access to and/or impact protection for a portable electronic device enclosed therein. When the case is in an open position, the internal support may provide structure and support to allow convenient use of a portable electronic device without the need to remove it from the case. Whereas, when the case is in a closed position the internal support may cradle an enclosed portable electronic device and provide impact protection. Thus, the case may be used to support a portable electronic device in an upright position, or protect it from damage during transit.

In some embodiments, the docking station may utilize a universal interface to communicatively couple a portable electronic device to one or more inputs, displays, and/or accessory devices. In further embodiments, the universal docking station may be configured to provide electrical power to a portable electronic device. By utilizing a universal data interface, the universal docking station may be utilized with any portable electronic device having the universal data interface regardless of the manufacturer of the portable electronic devices.

The consolidated power tips may be sized to balance insertion and pull-out forces for the disparately sized input ports. Deformable members may be added to the consolidated power tips for more desirable insertion and pull-out forces and improved electrical contact. For input ports with different electrical requirements, a mode selector may be added to the consolidated power tip to select between the electrical requirements of the different input ports. The consolidated power tips may be combined into a multi-prong power tip. The multi-prong power tip allows users to interface with a large number of disparate devices without changing power tips.

The display cover may be configured to protect or enhance the display. For example, a display cover may be configured to reduce glare or provide a privacy screen. The selectively attachable under-bezel tabs may be adhered to any of a wide variety of universal display covers, thereby adapting the universal display cover for use with displays configured with slotted bezels adapted to receive specialized display covers.
