    Abstract: A lighting apparatus for a discharge lamp in which said lighting apparatus (4) is coupled in series with a discharge lamp (3), said lighting apparatus (4) is composed of a capacitor with a ferroelectric dielectric material having main component Barium-titanate (BaTiO.sub.3), said capacitor satisfying the impedance ratio of the first impedance (Z.sub.1) which is obtained by measuring current for alternate voltage of 5 volts, to the second impedance (Z.sub.2) which is obtained by measuring current for alternate voltage of 500 volt/mm, being less than 1/10 (Z.sub.2 /Z.sub.1 is less than 1/10), thus, the size of the lighting apparatus is small, and the power loss in the same is reduced.

    Abstract: An optical recording system for high recording density has been found for a system which uses a heat-meltable recording medium which is melted by illuminating the same with a laser beam according to the data to be stored. The spacing between adjacent pits on the recording medium is less than the diameter of the laser beam, and then, each pit overlaps partially with the succeeding pit on the recording medium. In spite of the overlap of the pits, the recorded data can be read out by reading only the non-overlapped portion of the bank of a pit. The spacing between the pits is preferably in the range between 1/3 and 1/2 of the diameter of the laser spot so that the recording density is at least two times as high as a prior recording medium.

    Abstract: In a magnetic recording medium made by applying a non-magnetic undercoat and a magnetic top coat on a base, the undercoat comprises a radiation-curable coating material which contains a compound with a molecular weight of not less than 400, having one type of double bond selected from among acrylic, allylic, and maleic double bonds, the undercoat being formed by exposure to radiation. Specifically, the undercoating material contains at least two types of compounds selected from (A) those having a molecular weight of over 5000, preferably over 8000 and having two or more double bonds selected as above, (B) those having a molecular weight of 400 or more but less than 500, preferably in the range of 600 to 3000, and two or more double bonds selected as above, and (C) those having a molecular weight of less than 400 and one or more double bonds selected from among acrylic, allylic, maleic, and styrenic double bonds.

    Abstract: A current restriction device for alternate circuit with small size, low producing cost and low power loss has been found by using a ferro-electric body with rectangular hysterisis characteristics. Said device is used for instance as a ballast for restricting current in a fluorescent lamp. Said ferro-electric body has main component of B.sub.a T.sub.i O.sub.3, additive of S.sub.r or P.sub.b for substitution of part of B.sub.a and Z.sub.n or S.sub.n for substitution of part of T.sub.i, and a mineralizer of M.sub.n o or C.sub.r2 O.sub.3. The voltage-current characteristics of said ferro-electric body show non-linearity that the impedance ratio (Z.sub.2 /Z.sub.1) of the impedance Z.sub.2 measured with alternate field of 500 volts/mm to the impedance Z.sub.1 measured with alternate field of 5 volts/mm is less than 1/10.

    Abstract: In a known hot melt screen printing machine the printing ink is heated by an electrical current which is conducted through a stainless steel mesh of a screen plate. In the known machine, the printing accuracy is not good, mainly because of variation of tension and thermal expansion of the mesh.The mesh according to the present invention consists of insulating material fibers and an electroless plating layer formed on the fibers. The plating layer preferably consists of a nickel phosphorous alloy. A squeezing means for forcing the printing ink to pass through a printing pattern and/or a printing base for mounting an article to be printed are provided with a heating means. One of the advantages of the present invention is a high printing accuracy.

    Abstract: An ultrasonic atomizing device includes an ultrasonic oscillator system and a housing. The oscillator system comprises a conic-frustum shaped coupler having a projection at the central portion of its large cross-sectional portion, a circular piezoelectric plate provided with electrode plates and having a center hole through which being penetrated the projection, and a resonance plate to be stimulated into vibration. On the other hand, the housing includes a cylindrical wall, a circular cover fixed at one end of the cylindrical wall and a ring shaped cover fixed at the other end of the cylindrical wall. A circular hole of the ring shaped cover accepts and flexibly supports the coupler through a ring shaped rubber packing. The surface of the oscillator is sealed with the housing by fixing the circular cover to the projection by means of screws, in order to prevent invasion or adhesion of liquid to the surface of the oscillator.
