Abstract: A novel non-linear resistance element or varistor element is provided by the invention. The body of the element is a ceramic sintered body mainly composed of titanium dioxide admixed with small amounts of oxides of niobium, tantalum and/or antimony and electrodes are provided with a metallic material. Different from the conventional varistor elements, the electrode is bonded to the sintered body with ohmic contact by the techniques of flame spraying or electroless plating depending on the kind of the metallic material for the electrode selected from silver, aluminum, nickel and the like. Further improvement is proposed to increase the bonding strength of lead wires on to the electrodes by soldering as accomplished by providing a layer of a material having good solder-receptivity on the electrode which also serves for preventing the oxidation of the electrode material.

Abstract: An SiO.sub.2 coated iron oxide powder used for the preparation of an acicular metallic iron powder or an acicular magnetic iron oxide powder, is produced by forming a slurry of hydrated iron oxide as a starting material or a iron oxide powder having pH of 8 to 14; admixing a water soluble silicate at a ratio of 0.1 to 10 mol % as SiO.sub.2 based on Fe; hydrothermally reacting said mixed slurry at 100.degree. to 250.degree. C. for 5 minutes or longer in a closed reactor, and washing, filtering and drying the product.
Abstract: The present amplifier has a pair of semiconductor amplifiers, and the input signal is divided to said amplifiers, the outputs of which are combined together by the power combiner. At least one of the power divider and the power combiner has a plurality of circulators which have three terminals. The characteristic impedance of one terminal is 2Z.sub.O and that of another terminals is Z.sub.O. Thus, by connecting the terminals of the characteristic impedance 2Z.sub.O of two circulators, the resultant characteristic impedance Z.sub.O is obtained and can be connected to an external circuit directly. The present amplifier can be utilized in particular in VHF or higher frequency band.
Abstract: A rubber or plastic magnet of high magnetic properties is produced by incorporating a magnetoplumbite type magnetic powder into a rubber or thermoplastic or thermosetting matrix at a high concentration with a high degree of orientation of the magnetic particles. Such high concentration and orientation can be obtained by using a magnetoplumbite type magnetic powder having a compressed density in the range between 3.30 g/cm.sup.3 and about 3.55 g/cm.sup.3 and an average particle size of about 1.00 and 1.50.mu., said particles being prepared by dry crushing process from coarse sintered particles and having predominantly single crystal structure.

Abstract: A novel non-linear resistance element or a varistor element is proposed which is a sintered body composed of a ternary oxide mixture comprising titanium dioxide as the base component, bismuth oxide and a third oxide component selected from the group consisting of oxides of tantalum, niobium and antimony admixed in limited proportions. The sintered body is prepared by subjecting the powder mixture obtained by admixing a solution containing tantalum, niobium or antimony with titanium dioxide and bismuth oxide to sintering following drying and calcination. The varistor element of the invention is stable in its performance and has a sufficiently high non-linearity index so that excellent noise suppressors are prepared with the varistor element to be useful in absorbing the noise voltages generated in various rotatory machines such as miniature motors.Further improvement in the above varistor element is proposed by adding a small amount of silicon dioxide to the ternary oxide mixtures.
