  • Publication number: 20130032442
Abstract: The present invention relates to the field of inerters such as those used in vehicle suspension systems to control or counteract dynamic spring forces. The present invention arises from a surprising discovery, based on lab testing of another hydraulic suspension device, that the inertia of the fluid in a feed line has a very significant inertia effect, magnified by the ratio of the piston diameter to the line diameter to the 4th power. As a consequence, sufficient inertial reaction may be provided by the inertance of fluid alone and in the absence of a mechanical flywheel arrangement. Thus according to one aspect of the invention, there is provided an inerter (10, 110) which comprises first and second mechanical terminals (11, 12, 116, 140) which are arranged to be movable, one relative to the other, subject to an inertial reaction, wherein at least a portion of the inertial reaction is provided by hydraulic fluid inertance means (36, 152).

Abstract: [Problem] The present invention is intended to provide a digital signage system which can measure depth of interest of customers and can perform sales promotion to the customers. [Method of settlement] The digital signage system of the present invention can measure depth of interest of customers, by which a database 22 memorizes an amount of time during which the customers have taken out a clothes hanger from a hanger tack and a time update section 24 updates this and accumulates them. Willingness of the customers to buy can be increased by analyzing clothing information which the customers have picked up and by displaying an image with respect to the clothing article on a monitor in the vicinity of the customers.

  • Publication number: 20120319859
Abstract: Provided is a device for monitoring the orientation of a hand-held surgical or dental tool. The device includes one or more orientation sensors that generate signals indicative of an orientation of the device. A processor calculates from the signals a current orientation of the device, where the current orientation is specified by a unit vector defined by a first angle formed between the unit vector and a predetermined first fixed axis and a second angle formed by the unit vector and a second predetermined axis. The processor compares a current orientation of the device with a predetermined reference orientation of the device stored in the memory and provides an indication of the deviation between a current orientation of the device and the reference orientation.

  • Patent number: 8324025
Abstract: A method for packaging one or more power semiconductor devices is provided. A lead frame comprising one or more base die paddles, multiple lead terminals, and a tie bar assembly is constructed. The lead terminals extend to a predetermined elevation from the base die paddles. The base die paddles are connected to the lead terminals by the tie bar assembly. The tie bar assembly mechanically couples the base die paddles to each other and to the lead terminals. The tie bar assembly is selectively configured to isolate the lead terminals from the base die paddles and to enable creation of multiple selective connections between one or more of the lead terminals and one or more power semiconductor devices mounted on the base die paddles, thereby enabling flexible packaging of one or more isolated and/or non-isolated power semiconductor devices and increasing their power handling capacity.

  • Publication number: 20120286069
Abstract: A trigger sprayer has a housing, a piston bore within the housing, and a piston reciprocally mounted with the piston bore. The housing further includes a flow passage through which liquid passes from a passage inlet to a passage outlet. An actuator is operable to reciprocate the piston within the piston bore between a vacuum stroke creating reduced pressure in the piston bore and a compression stroke creating increased pressure in the piston bore. A valve unit within the flow passage controls the flow of liquid through the flow passage upon operation of the actuator. The valve unit further comprises a check valve and priming valve. The check valve is shaped in a frusto-conical manner and is assembled into the check valve seat which is not part of the housing but is a separate component. The sprayer has a free spinning threaded type closure for mounting the sprayer to a container, the closure formed separately from and secured to said housing.

  • Patent number: 8281817
Abstract: A laminar flow tool is for channeling water, air or other fluids through a down drill pipe or tubing for pressurization of other tools or other purposes. The tool provides a flow divider having an 180 degree twist separating a driven fluid chamber from a buffer fluid pocket. Fluid in the tool is calmed as it travels and loses some of the spin (“turbulence”) inherent in the water or other fluid. A buffer pocket on one side absorbs shocks and stabilizes the driven side. Ports in the buffer side help equalize pressure.
