  • Publication number: 20200292109
Abstract: A seating and restraint system is shown for joining the spigot and socket ends of two sections of plastic pipe to form a pipe joint. The socket pipe ends are preformed at the factory with an internal raceway which receives both a sealing ring and a companion gripping ring. The sealing ring is an elastomeric member having a periphery with a protruding ear formed at one circumferential location. The companion gripping ring is a hardened member having one opening gap in the circumference thereof. The protruding ear on the sealing ring fits within the opening gap in the gripping ring, engagement of the protruding ear within the opening gap serving to prevent extrusion of the sealing ring within the gap in the gripping ring and also limiting closure of the gripping ring after engagement of the spigot end with the socket pipe end as the pipe joint is assembled.

  • Patent number: 10617999
Abstract: Finely atomized alkaline sorbent salt solutions are injected into a hot flue gas stream to remove SO2. Flash evaporation of the droplets produces very fine dried sorbent particles, which react efficiently with SO2 in the flue gas. The liquid sorbent may be sodium carbonate, sodium hydroxide, sodium sulfite, potassium carbonate, potassium hydroxide or the like. In a coal-fired boiler, the liquid sorbent may be injected after the economizer section, where the flue gas temperature is below 850° F., and upstream of a particulate collection device. The dried sorbent particles react with SO2 and then are removed from the flue gas stream in the particulate collection device, producing a cleaned flue gas stream.

  • Patent number: 10583770
Abstract: A mechanically actuated cargo restraint system for a vehicle includes a rotatable reel in a frame, a first flexible tether, a base and a pawl. The frame includes a cog having a single tooth. The first flexible tether has a first end coupled to the rotatable reel and a second end capable of being coupled to one of a vehicle and a cargo item. The first flexible tether is windable around the rotatable reel. The base rotate with the reel. The pawl is pivotally connected to the base, and is biased in a first position that allows rotation of the pawl with respect to the cog. The pawl moves to a second position responsive to centrifugal force associated with a velocity of rotation of the rotatable reel exceeding a threshold. The pawl engages the cog in the second position to inhibit relative movement of the pawl with respect to the cog.

  • Patent number: 10458087
Abstract: The installation of one or more prefabricated drains beneath the surface of sediment in a sediment pond utilizing suction or a vacuum to withdraw water from the sediment material to lower the water level down to the level of the prefabricated drains below the pond surface. Dewatering may be coupled with imparting vibrations to the material to further promote both additional dewatering and compaction of the sediment material in the pond. A suitably graded bottom ash, fly ash, sand or large-diameter-solid particle or sediment layer may be added on top of the horizontal drains to enhance dewatering of finer sediment material.

  • Patent number: 10338233
Abstract: Embodiments are directed to performing integer ambiguity validation in carrier phase differential positioning and to calculating a protection level for safety-of-life applications. In one scenario, a computer system accesses double-differenced pseudorange measurements and carrier phase measurements which are combined to produce an estimate of the relative position between receivers. Integer bootstrapping is performed to produce fixed range ambiguity estimates that are integer multiples of a carrier signal wavelength. A validation threshold is then established based on a statistical model of the pseudorange and carrier wave measurements that ensures that a specified probability of correct ambiguity resolution is met. A data-driven validation is initiated on the difference between the float range ambiguity estimates and the fixed range ambiguity estimates to validate the correctness of the fixed range ambiguity estimate.
