  • Patent number: 7791394
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for distributed, fault-tolerant clock pulse generation in hardware systems, wherein the system clock pulse is generated in distribution by a plurality of intercommunicating fault-tolerant clock pulse synchronization algorithms (TS-Algs), in which an arbitrary number of such TS-Algs exchange information between one another via a user-defined and permanent network (TS-Net) of clock pulse signals, susceptible to transient faults, and each TS-Alg is assigned to one or more functional units (Fu1, Fu2, . . . ), whose local clock pulses are generated by it, and further all local clock pulses are synchronized with respect to frequency in an assured manner, and a specified number of transient and/or permanent faults may occur in the TS-Algs or in the TS-Net, without adversely affecting the clock pulse generation and/or the synchronization accuracy, and the system clock pulse automatically achieves the maximum possible frequency. • Patent number: 7725798
Abstract: A method and system for recovering useful information, in particular useful information transmitted in digital form on terrestrial or satellite-based information paths, for example as voice, image or data signal, from channel-coded data streams encoded with turbo codes with a predefined code rate is disclosed. The data streams are received by a turbo decoder with a presettable number of decoder components and subsequently decoded in an iterative process according to the MAP and/or Max-Log-MAP standard. The iterative process is controlled by a stop criterion, wherein after termination of the iterative process in the turbo decoder at least one of the decoder components, in particular the associated lattice diagram, is used for an additional decoding process that is different from the MAP and/or Max-Log-MAP standard. This approach lowers the error floor of the turbo code.

  • Publication number: 20100096547
Abstract: In a method for classifying and separating particles in a fluid stream in which the particles are sprayed and electrically charged and deflected in an electrical field one portion of the stream of the charged or ionized particles respectively is introduced into a first separation device operated as an analyzer (4) and is deflected under variation of the applied high voltage or the electric field respectively, whereby particles reach a detector chamber (10) according to separation criteria like, for example charge or particle size. This high voltage and/or field strength corresponding to a species collected in the detector chamber (10) is read and/or stored as a reference value. The particle stream is fed into a separator (5), in which the previously acquired high voltage and/or field strength is applied and particles of the species deflected in the analyzer (4) into the detector chamber (10) are enriched and discharged correspondingly.
