Abstract: An example device includes a processor configured to receive a plurality of voltage measurements corresponding to nodes in a distribution network, and determine, for each respective node: a value of a first coefficient, based on a previous value of the first coefficient, a minimum voltage value for the node, and a voltage measurement that corresponds to the node, and a value of a second coefficient based on a previous value of the second coefficient, a maximum voltage value for the node, and the voltage measurement. The processor of the example device is also configured to cause an inverter-interfaced energy resource connected to the distribution network to modify its output power based on the value of the first coefficient for each node and the value of the second coefficient for each node.

Abstract: A novel and useful mechanism for the skinning of 3D meshes with reference to a skeleton utilizing statistical weight optimization techniques. The mechanism comprises (1) an efficient high quality linear blend skinning (LBS) technique based on a set of skeleton deformations sampled from the manipulation space; (2) a joint placement algorithm to optimize the input skeleton; and (3) a set of tools for a user to interactively control the skinning process. Statistical skinning weight maps are computed using an as-rigid-as-possible (ARAP) optimization. The method operates with a coarsely placed initial skeleton and optimizes joint placements to improve the skeleton's alignment. Bones may also be parameterized incorporating twists, bends, stretches and spines. Several tools add additional constraints to resolve ambiguous situations and interactive feedback aids users.
Abstract: An invention in the field of papermaking that relates in particular to sizing paper. Problems with state of the art methods are that the sizing chemicals used are typically expensive; may be available only in limited supply; are produced using methods that are damaging to the environment; and whose production is far from carbon-neutral. It is an object of the present invention to provide an alternative to the methods of the prior art and to overcome one or more of the above mentioned disadvantages.
