  • Patent number: 12293002
Abstract: A method and system for the storage of data in compliance with territorial privacy laws while retaining data sovereignty. The method generally comprises splitting input data into clusters and anonymising the clustered data. Information relating to the anonymised data clusters may then be split and stored separately in data shards. The anonymization and splitting of the data prevents the restoration of the input data without access to all of the data shards. Also a method and system for decoding data anonymised by the method.

  • Patent number: 11715070
Abstract: Workers often forget to enter clockings indicating when they have arrived or left work or transferred between work activities. Various embodiments provide a system that predicts the risk of potential missed worker clockings and delivers alerts to the workers and/or their managers when that risk is high. The system analyzes historical data to find previous instances of missed clockings at an organization, extracts feature information regarding the context of the missed clockings, and calibrates a missing clocking risk model. The model is then used in either an online or batch mode to predict the risk of workers missing upcoming scheduled clockings. Based on these risk scores and system configurations, alerts are generated for employees and managers reminding them about the upcoming clockings and lowering the amount of missed clockings and subsequent remedies.

  • Patent number: 8376377
Abstract: In order to temporarily close off the open end or ends of a supermarket cage to reduce risk of products falling out, a supermarket cage protection device is proposed which comprises a roller (16) mounted between respective brackets (30) which are adapted to be fitted removably to opposing upper regions of opposing side frames (22) of a supermarket cage (20). A sheet of flexible material (12) is mounted upon and extensible from the roller (16) so as to cover, in use, an open end of the supermarket cage. Means for releasably securing the sheet (12) when so extended may comprise a channel element (14) providing a hook to engage a bottom cage element and optionally a grip portion (45) to facilitate its release. In its simplest form such a device is, in effect, a roller blind adapted for fitting to a delivery cage.

  • Patent number: 7865730
Abstract: A system and method for a web browser to convert an unencrypted character string into a cipher-text string combines a public-key encryption algorithm with a unique and constantly changing salt key. A private “server-key”, a public “client-key” and a server session ID are generated by the server, and the client-key and the session ID are sent to the browser with the code used to encrypt the message. The session-based string can be a randomly generated set of characters which changes between established user sessions and the salt key can be formed from the server session ID string. The server contains the matching code necessary to decrypt the stream using the private key.

  • Patent number: 7233919
Abstract: A method for calculating employee compensation includes associating sets of attributes with pay categories. An employee's shifts are split into sub-shifts, responsive to work parameters. A set of attributes is determined for each sub-shift. Each set of attributes is a unique combination of attributes. Sets of attributes are associated with pay categories through a pay category mapping matrix which maps each set of attributes to one or more pay categories. The pay categories with which the set of attributes associated with a particular subshift is associated are then determined responsive to the mapping. A total compensation for an employee is then determined for a pay period by adding the amounts determined for each subshift of the pay period. A compensation qualifier can be associated with each pay category, such that determining compensation for an employee for the sub-shift responsive to the assigned pay category, is in turn responsive to the employee's base pay and the compensation qualifier.

  • Patent number: 7222082
Abstract: A business volume and workforce requirements forecaster includes a business structure, a forecast structure, certain hierarchical levels which map to corresponding levels in the business structure, a volume forecaster which forecasts business volume responsive to historical data and to the business and forecast structures, and a workforce requirements engine which forecasts workforce requirements responsive to the forecast business volume. Business volume is forecast for a predefined duration, responsive to both a first set of historical data, and to the business and forecast structures. Calculation of workforce requirements includes task level consolidation and resource leveling, and can include dynamic standard assignment, wherein different metrics are selected at different times, and where a task is associated with a plurality of standards. An event calendar is defined, and at least one event is selected from the calendar and considered in the step of forecasting.

  • Patent number: 6843349
Abstract: A trolley wheel mechanism has two caster wheel assemblies each having a pair of wheels mounted on a rotatable housing. In a free mode the wheels are free to both rotate and to swivel. This is caused by the user pressing a release pedal. In a unidirectional mode a retainer lock engages a brake disc to prevent swivelling of the housing. This is caused by the user pressing both pedals simultaneously. A brake mode is caused by the user pressing the apply pedal.

  • Patent number: 6261962
Abstract: A sidewall passivation layer is deposited on an etched feature in a semiconductor substrate with a hydrocarbon deposition gas by introducing H2, determining certain mixture percentages for the hydrocarbon gas/H2 mix at which the etch rate for the substrate peaks, the etch rate begins to rise from a generally steady state, and/or the etch rate falls to zero, and then maintaining the mixture percentage within a selected range. Where the hydrocarbon gas/H2 mix is maintained at a percentage between the steady-state etch rate percentage and the peak etch rate percentage, then relatively high ion energies are used. Where the hydrocarbon gas/H2 mix is maintained at a percentage between the peak etch rate percentage and the percentage where the etch rate falls to zero, then relatively low ion energies are used.

  • Patent number: 6239404
Abstract: Plasma processing apparatus frequently incorporates an antenna fed from a power supply and in this invention a power supply feeds a conventional matching circuit (10), which in turn is connected to the primary (11) of a transformer (12). The antenna (15) is coupled across the secondary winding (13) of the transformer (12) and that winding is tapped to ground at (16). This creates a virtual earth (17) near the mid point of the antenna (15) significantly reducing the variation, along the length of the antenna, in the power supplied to the plasma.
