    Abstract: An illustrative example method of mapping a physical environment using an occupancy grid containing a set of cells associated with respective occupancy probabilities includes measuring a potential position of an object, using a sensor and identifying a segment representing a distribution interval of probable values associated with respective probability values relating to the measured potential position. The segment extends according to only one of two dimensions of the coordinate system of the sensor and penetrates a subset of potentially occupied cells. The method includes evaluating a probability of occupancy of each potentially occupied cell by determining the features of a segment portion included in the potentially occupied cell, and determining the probability of occupancy of the potentially occupied cell as a function of the determined segment portion using the probability density function.

    Abstract: The techniques of this disclosure relate to actively selecting lenses for camera focus processes. Lenses to be used during camera assembly are chosen based on whether their pairing with a specific set of production components can satisfy focus performance criteria of end of line test. Test equipment may check the lenses by dry-fit aligning them to a particular set of production components. If minimum focus performance cannot be achieved, then a different set of lenses are used to with that set of production components to produce a final camera assembly. This way, because the lenses are actively selected during production to achieve satisfactory focus performance of the EOLT, each final camera assembly is more likely to pass the EOLT, thereby improving camera production output.

    Abstract: This document describes techniques and systems for associating measurement points to spline points in determining a free space boundary for a vehicle assistance system. An exemplified method includes obtaining a set of measurement points that define a subset of a free space boundary near a host vehicle. A parametric curve that approximates spatial information representing the free space boundary is also obtained. The parametric curve includes a plurality of spline samples. The method then includes determining, for each respective spline point of the plurality of spline samples, a respective measurement point of the set of measurement points that corresponds to the respective spline point. In this way, a more efficient technique is disclosed for a vehicle assistance system to associate measurement points to spline points that make up a parametric-curve representation of the free space boundary.
