  • Patent number: 9616559
Abstract: A shoulder ring, for installation in a threaded pipe coupling between the installed pin ends of two pipes being connected by the coupling, has opposing end faces and a central opening, and may be lobate or circular in shape. The shoulder ring provides enhanced axial retention within the coupling by incorporating a thread element which engages the internal threads of the coupling to prevent or deter displacement of the ring from the coupling. Alternatively, enhanced axial retention may be provided by way of an interference or interlocking fit that is plastically induced during the ring installation process. The shoulder ring may be of lobate or circular configuration, with the axial retention of lobate embodiments being further enhanced by forces acting radially outward against the coupling due to elastic deformation of the ring during installation. Also disclosed are tools for installing the shoulder rings in a threaded coupling.

  • Patent number: 9619379
Abstract: A data storage device is disclosed comprising a non-volatile memory (NVM). During a read operation, a sequence of signal samples is generated representing codewords stored in the NVM. The signal samples are buffered to generate buffered signal samples. The buffered signal samples are processed at a first frequency to detect a data sequence, and a bottleneck condition is detected associated with processing the buffered signal samples at the first frequency. When the bottleneck condition is detected, the buffered signal samples are processed at a second frequency higher than the first frequency to detect the data sequence.

  • Patent number: 9619045
Abstract: Certain embodiments herein relate to determining a type of input device from which user input is received. Input devices, such as keyboards, scanners, card readers, other keypad devices, etc., may send information to a computing device. The information may include one or more characters or signals, each of which may be received by the computing device after a delay. Such a delay may be analyzed to determine a source or type of user input device. A threshold time may be established such that an identification and number of characters received before the threshold time is reached may be used to determine the source or type of an input device. In example embodiments, a distinction between a bar code scanner and a keyboard, among other types of input devices used in a product shipping application, may be determined.

  • Patent number: 9621869
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for minimizing re-projection artifacts. From a re-projection method, a distortion map determines areas of excessive stretching or compressing of pixels, which are then rendered. The re-projection and render are composited to create a new stereo image. Systems and methods are also provided for a “depth layout” process, whereby a new offset view of a 2D plate is created, allowing a stereo pair of images. Custom geometry that approximates the scene is created and 2D rotoscoping is employed to cut out shapes from the geometry. A depth map is created, from which an offset image may be re-projected, resulting in a stereo pair. Systems and methods are also provided for a fast re-projection technique, which creates a novel view from an existing image. The process generates a disparity map and then a distortion map, which is then used to create the new view.

  • Publication number: 20170095802
Abstract: The present disclosure describes bulk powder Zero-PGM material compositions including a CuMn2O4 spinel structure supported on doped zirconia support oxides powders, including Ba, Sr, and Ti at different dopant loadings produced by different conventional synthetic methods. BET-surface area and XRD analysis are performed for a plurality of doped zirconia support oxides to compare the thermal stability, before and after deposition of Cu—Mn spinel. Additionally, bulk powder ZPGM catalyst compositions are subjected to a steady-state isothermal sweep test to determine NO conversion capabilities. The selected support oxide material compositions are capable of providing increased surface areas for improved thermal stability leading to a more effective utilization of ZPGM catalyst materials with enhanced NO conversion and improved thermal stability for TWC applications.

  • Publication number: 20170095803
Abstract: Sulfur-resistant synergized platinum group metals (SPGM) catalysts with significant oxidation capabilities are disclosed. Catalytic layers of SPGM catalyst samples are produced using conventional synthesis techniques to build a washcoat layer completely or substantially free of PGM material. The SPGM catalyst includes a washcoat layer comprising YMnO3 perovskite and an overcoat layer including a Pt composition deposited on a plurality of support oxides with total PGM loading of about 5 g/ft3. Resistance to sulfur poisoning and catalytic stability is observed under 1.3 gS/L condition to assess the influence that selected support oxides have on the DOC performance of the SPGM catalysts. The results indicate SPGM catalysts produced to include a layer of low amount of PGM catalyst material deposited on a plurality of support oxides added to a layer of ZPGM catalyst material are capable of providing significant improvements in sulfur resistance of SPGM catalyst systems.
