Abstract: Gel including a phase-change material and a gelling agent. In one embodiment, the phase-change material may be n-tetradecane, n-hexadecane or mixtures thereof. The gelling agent may be a high molecular weight styrene-ethylene-butylene-styrene (SEBS) triblock copolymer with a styrene:rubber ratio of about 30:70 to 33:67% by weight. To form the gel, the phase-change material and the gelling agent may be mixed at an elevated temperature relative to room temperature to partially, but not completely, dissolve the gelling agent. The mixture may then be cooled to room temperature. Alternatively, the phase-change material and the gelling agent may be mixed at room temperature, and the mixture may then be heated to form a viscoelastic liquid, which is then cooled to room temperature. The invention is also directed at a method of preparing the gel, a thermal exchange implement including the gel, and a method of preparing the thermal exchange implement.

Abstract: Measuring a volume of space including providing a laser scanner having a transmitter, a receiver, a beam steering mechanism, and a display unit integral to the laser scanner. A plurality of distances to measuring points are determined based at least in part on propagation times of measuring beams sent from the beam steering mechanism and reflected beams. Gray-scale values representative of the measuring points are determined and assigned to elements of a measuring point array, and the measuring point array is transformed into a display point array that corresponds to a first number of display points. The measuring point array corresponds to a second number of measuring points greater than the first number. The transforming includes assigning display gray-scale values to elements of the display point array. For each display point, a pixel of the display unit is illuminated, with the level of illumination depending on the display gray-scale value.

Abstract: Various examples are directed to systems and methods for modifying a geofence boundary. A geofence engine may receive an indication of an initial geofence boundary for a first mobile device. The geofence engine may also receive geofence data from a second mobile device and a third mobile device. The geofence data may describe a plurality of geofence boundaries and a plurality of geofence boundary breach events associated with the plurality of geofence boundaries. The geofence engine may also determine an alternate geofence boundary for the first mobile device based at least in part on the geofence data.
Abstract: An antenna for satellite communication includes; a signal transmitting and receiving unit for receiving or transmitting a signal from/to the satellite; a driving unit for rotating the signal transmitting and receiving unit so as to enable the signal transmitting and receiving unit to track the satellite; an anti-vibration unit provided inside the posts for elastically supporting the signal transmitting and receiving unit or the driving unit. Therefore, by providing the anti-vibration unit inside the posts, it is possible to increase availability for a circumferential space of the posts and to simplify the structure of the anti-vibration unit.

Abstract: The invention relates to a family of dyes which fluoresce in the UV-VIS, far red and near infrared wavelengths of the spectrum and possess asymmetric lipophilic alkyl chains. The dyes of the invention are soluble in commercially available membrane staining vehicles, are useful as probes for rapidly staining lipophilic structures such as membranes in cells or isolated from cells, and are well-retained therein. Methods of utilizing the dyes to detect stained cells both in vivo and in vitro are also disclosed.
Abstract: The present application provides a system, method and non-transitory computer readable medium for mounting angle estimation and compensation for in-vehicle devices with an accelerometer sensor. In example embodiments, a two phased calibration starts with the vehicle parked on a horizontal surface and uses averaging to obtain mean value estimates of the force due to gravity on each directly coupled accelerometer sensor axis. These mean value estimates are used to perform an axes reassignment, if necessary, and to estimate the pitch and roll mounting angles. The calibration is completed by estimating the yaw mounting angle while the vehicle is driven. The yaw estimate is based on acceleration data in the vehicle's x-y plane that is accumulated when the amplitude is above a threshold. The accumulation includes a sign change if forward deceleration is indicated.

Abstract: Processes such as image matching, computer vision, and object recognition can utilize additional data, such as spatial data, to attempt to improve the accuracy of the results of those processes. For example, a computing device acquiring scene data including a representation of an object can also determine spatial data (e.g., location and orientation data). By determining the spatial data, a set of potential matches can be found which can help to more quickly and accurately identify the object based on one or more objects known to be at a corresponding position. The data acquired by the computing device can also be used to update matching data stored for that location, which can assist with subsequent processing.
Abstract: A method of manufacture of I-III-VI-absorber photovoltaic cells involves sequential deposition of films comprising one or more of silver and copper, with one or more of aluminum indium and gallium, and one or more of sulfur, selenium, and tellurium, as compounds in multiple thin sublayers to form a composite absorber layer. In an embodiment, the method is adapted to roll-to-roll processing of photovoltaic cells. In an embodiment, the method is adapted to preparation of a CIGS absorber layer having graded composition through the layer of substitutions such as tellurium near the base contact and silver near the heterojunction partner layer, or through gradations in indium and gallium content. In a particular embodiment, the graded composition is enriched in gallium at a base of the layer, and silver at the top of the layer. In an embodiment, each sublayer is deposited by co-evaporation of copper, indium, gallium, and selenium, which react in-situ to form CIGS.
