Abstract: Aspects of a storage device are provided that reduce calculations for identifying physical locations of data during a read operation. In one aspect, a memory device includes one or more memory arrays. Each array includes multiple chunks of memory. The device includes a first set of registers for storing prefixed starting addresses for each array. The device further includes control logic that may identify bad physical address in each array. For each successive chunk in each array and based on the prefixed starting address and the bad physical address locations, the device may determine a pointer to a starting physical address for the chunk. The pointer may be stored in a second set of registers for use in register read operations.

Abstract: A system and method used to image cylindrical fluid conduits, such as pipes, wellbores and tubulars, with ultrasound transducers then process the ultrasound images to detect edges and surfaces. The device and method compute monotonic paths through high energy pixels. Functions are used for dropping, extending and selecting an optimal path based on certain criteria, such as path length, path continuity and path energy. The selected path may be used to model and visualize the tubular along with key features, components and defects in 2D and 3D.

Abstract: A system is provided for handling errors during automatic speech recognition by processing a potentially defective utterance to determine an alternative, potentially successful utterance. The system processes an ASR hypothesis, using a probabilistic graph, to determine a likelihood that it will result in an error. Using the probabilistic graph, the system determines an alternate utterance.

Abstract: A system configured to improve wakeword detection. The system may selectively rectify (e.g., attenuate) a portion of an audio signal based on energy statistics corresponding to a keyword (e.g., wakeword). For example, a device may perform echo cancellation to generate isolated audio data, may use the energy statistics to calculate signal quality metric values for a plurality of frequency bands of the isolated audio data, and may select a fixed number of frequency bands (e.g., 5-10%) associated with lowest signal quality metric values. To detect a specific keyword, the system determines a threshold ?(f) corresponding to an expected energy value at each frequency band. During runtime, the device determines signal quality metric values by subtracting residual music from the expected energy values. Thus, the device attenuates only a portion of the total number of frequency bands that include more energy than expected based on the energy statistics of the wakeword.

Abstract: Systems and methods for sloppy routing are provided. A client transmits a DNS query corresponding to a requested resource to a content delivery network (CDN) service provider. In some embodiments, the CDN service provider processes the DNS query to determine whether a threshold content delivery bandwidth has been exceeded by data links at cache servers. In other embodiments, additionally or alternatively, the CDN service provider determines whether a content provider has exceeded a threshold network usage that indicates a price at which the CDN service provider to provide content on behalf of the content provider. Using both or either of these thresholds, the CDN service provider can further process the DNS query by providing an alternative resource identifier or a cache IP address, both associated with an alternative POP. In some embodiments, the CDN service provider determines a routing mode for the response to the DNS query.

Abstract: Methods and systems for encoding digital information in nucleic acid (e.g., deoxyribonucleic acid) molecules without base-by-base synthesis, by encoding bit-value information in the presence or absence of unique nucleic acid sequences within a pool, comprising specifying each bit location in a bit-stream with a unique nucleic sequence and specifying the bit value at that location by the presence or absence of the corresponding unique nucleic acid sequence in the pool But, more generally, specifying unique bytes in a bytestream by unique subsets of nucleic acid sequences. Also disclosed are methods for generating unique nucleic acid sequences without base-by-base synthesis using combinatorial genomic strategies (e.g., assembly of multiple nucleic acid sequences or enzymatic-based editing of nucleic acid sequences).

Abstract: A server in a content delivery network (CDN) can examine API traffic and extract therefrom content that can be optimized before it is served to a client. The server can apply content location instructions to a given API message to find such content therein. Upon finding an instance of such content, the server can verify the identity of the content by applying a set of content verification instructions. If verification succeeds, the server can retrieve an optimized version of the identified content and swap it into the API message for the original version. If an optimized version is not available, the server can initiate an optimization process so that next time the optimized version will be available. In some embodiments, an analysis service can assist by observing traffic from an API endpoint over time, detecting the format of API messages and producing the content location and verification instructions.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for receiving geographic coordinates for a location, determining a road segment associated with the location based on the geographic coordinates for the location, and determining a plurality of places associated with the road segment associated with the location. The systems and methods further provide for extracting visual data for each of the plurality of places, generating a plurality of feature values based on the visual data for each of the plurality of places, and analyzing the plurality of feature values to generate a visibility score for each of the plurality of places.

Abstract: This document describes techniques for rotating keys used to tokenize data stored in a streaming data store where data is stored for a maximum time [W]. In some embodiments, a data layer of such a data store can encrypt arriving original data values twice. The original data value is first encrypted with a first key, producing a first token. The original data value is encrypted with a second key, producing a second token. Each encrypted token can be stored separately in the data store. A field may be associated with two database columns, one holding the value encrypted with the first key and the second holding the value encrypted with the second key. Keys are rotated after time [K], which is at least equal to and preferably longer than [W]. Rotation can involve discarding the older key and generating a new key so that two keys are still used.

Abstract: In a method for displaying a three dimensional interface on a device, a scene is displayed on a display of the device and a three dimensional user interface control with three dimensional effects is displayed on the display of the device, the three dimensional effects based on a virtual light source, a virtual camera, and a virtual depth of a three dimensional object relative to the scene. A change in the position of the device relative to the virtual light source and the virtual camera is detected. The three dimensional effects are dynamically changed based on the change in position of the device relative to the virtual light source and the virtual camera. Orientation of the virtual camera is dynamically changed to change the display of the scene and the display of the three dimensional user interface control to a new perspective based on the change in position of the device relative to the virtual light source and the virtual camera.

Abstract: Disclosed techniques include audio and visual stream rendering modification based on device rotation metric. One or more media streams are received from a server. The one or more media streams are targeted for display on a handheld media stream playback device. An orientation of the handheld device is determined during playback of at least one of the one or more media streams on the handheld device. A change in orientation of the handheld device is detected. The change occurs during playback of the at least one of the one or more media streams. Based on detecting the change in orientation, a rotation angle of the handheld device is calculated. Based on the rotation angle, the playback of at least one of the one or more media streams is changed on the handheld device.

Abstract: A computing device can monitor a set of memory usage metrics of the computing device. Based on historical memory usage data and the set of memory usage metrics, the computing device can determine whether memory usage will exceed a critical memory threshold at a future instance in time. In response to determining that the memory usage will exceed the critical memory threshold at the future instance in time, the computing device can degrade one or more application features of an application executing on the computing device.

Abstract: A method of operating a first data processing system having a screen for responding to a vector gesture performed on that screen is disclosed. The method includes estimating a direction and assuming an identity for the vector gesture prior to the vector gesture being completed. A command that depends on the estimated direction and assumed identity is executed, the command being a command that would be required to update a current state of the first data processing system if the assumed identity of the vector gesture is correct. The command is executed prior to the vector gesture being completed. The current state of the first data processing system is then updated based on the data generated by the command. After the vector gesture has been determined to have been completed, the first data processing system is updated to a state indicated by the completed vector gesture.
