  • Patent number: 8224613
Abstract: An Arbitrary Waveform Generator has a controller programmed to generate a sequence of test waveforms using previously-defined waveform data files. The controller generates this series of test waveforms by direct synthesis to cause each waveform to contain a respective different predetermined amount of Rj, Sj and ISI jitter components. In this way, the Arbitrary Waveform Generator produces a sequence of waveforms incorporating varying amounts of ISI to sweep the ISI jitter components from an initial amount of ISI, for example, zero ISI, and continually increment the amount of ISI to a full unit interval of ISI in predetermined increments, for example, 0.1 UI steps.

  • Patent number: 8223151
Abstract: A method of analysis of long record length data using mark duration includes displaying together with a portion of the long record length data each mark that identifies a specified feature of interest together with the mark duration. Associated with the mark may be text identifying the feature of interest, measurement values associated with the duration of the mark, or a combination thereof. Multiple sets of marks may be generated for the long record length data, which sets may be combined to generate new marks with duration. The marks also may be filtered to further refine the marks to be displayed according to user specified criteria. In this way analysis of long record length data representing an acquired signal may be readily automated so a user may move from one interesting event to another without having to pan through the long record length data.

  • Publication number: 20120176153
Abstract: In one general aspect, a data collection system for a circuit under test implemented as an integrated circuit or using a programmable logic device is disclosed. It comprises a configurable selection network connected to debug nodes of the circuit. The selection network can be reconfigured after implementation of the circuit to route data from selectable debug nodes in the circuit under test to a controller to allow analysis of the circuit. The data collection system can further comprise a configurable data packer. A method of use of the system associates data from the debug nodes with individual debug nodes of the circuit based on a configuration of the configurable selection network or that of the configurable data packer or both. The method and system of the invention allows for efficient data collection from different sets of debug nodes without having to re-implement the circuit.

  • Patent number: 8219675
Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for correlating IP flows across a NAT firewall. Data packets are captured from a first interface using a monitor probe coupled to the first interface and are correlated into a first group of session records. For each of the first group of session records, a correlation key is created using data in one of the packets in the session record. Data packets are captured from a second interface using a monitor probe coupled to the second interface and are correlated into a second group of session records. For each of the second group of session records, a correlation key is created using data in one of the packets in the session record. The correlation key for one of the first group is compared to the correlation keys for each of the second group of session records to identify session records with matching correlation keys.

  • Publication number: 20120162364
Abstract: Embodiments of the invention include a system and methods for measuring disparity and mismatch of stereoscopic images of three-dimensional video, which may indicate a level of discomfort on the part of the viewer. Measuring these parameters may also be used to give an indication that certain processes have or have not adversely effected perceived depth (i.e. through conversion from disparity to depth given a display size and viewing distance), verify camera setup or 2-dimension to 3-dimension synthesizing processes. Generating the indications and other data about the stereoscopic images uses techniques that allow processing with much less computing resources than was possible in previous systems.

  • Publication number: 20120162527
Abstract: A single-ended blur detection probe and method with a local sharpness map for analyzing a video image sequence uses two sets of edge filters, one for “fast edges” and the other for “slow edges.” Each set of edge filters includes a horizontal bandpass filter, a vertical bandpass filter and a pair of orthogonal diagonal filters where the frequency response of the fast edge filters overlap the frequency response of the slow edge filters. The video image sequence is input to each filter of each set, and the output absolute values are combined with weighting factors to produce a slow edge weighted sum array and a fast edge weighted sum arra. The respective weighted sum arrays are then decimated to produce a slow edge decimated array and a fast edge decimated array.

  • Publication number: 20120163203
Abstract: The data rate for video data being transmitted through a wireless network is adjusted based upon cell congestion levels. A network monitoring system identifies the congestion levels in network cells based upon data traffic captured from network interfaces. When a cell congestion level reaches a first level, an alert is sent to a video transcoding device. The video transcoding device adjusts the data rate for video data being sent to one or more subscribers in the congested cell. The data rate adjustments may be based upon a subscriber profile or a user equipment type. When cell congestion levels drop below a second threshold, the monitoring system sends a second alert indicating that the data rate can be increased.

  • Publication number: 20120162067
Abstract: A test and measurement instrument according to an embodiment of the present invention provides a disparity cursor for making quick and easy disparity measurements. In operation, a user uses a sample cursor to specify a pixel of a first image and uses the disparity cursor to specify a pixel of a second image. The test and measurement instrument then automatically provides a measured disparity value based on the two pixels.

  • Publication number: 20120155428
Abstract: A network monitoring system captures data packet from LTE/SAE network interfaces using passive probes. The monitoring system identifies context data associated with a first user on an S1-MME interface. Next hop parameters, such as a Next Hop Key and/or a Next Hop Chaining Counter, are derived for the first user equipment. The monitoring system creates a first context entry for the first user comprising of the next hop parameters. The monitoring system also identifies second context data associated with a second user on a second S1-MME interface. Next hop parameters are also identified for the second context data. The second context next hop parameters are compared to the first context next hop parameters. If they match, it is possible to track the user even in case of mobility, binding its activity on the two legs and retrieving the security parameters to be used for deciphering.

  • Publication number: 20120158334
Abstract: A digitizing instrument is used for modifying pattern data and jitter and noise components of a communication signal. In a typical implementation, the midpoints of a rising edge slope and horizontal portion of the communication signal are determined and multiple digital data records are acquired at the midpoints. The data sample records are transformed to frequency components and the random jitter and noise, and periodic jitter and noise components are determined. A correlated pattern data and the jitter and noise components are matrix elements in a simulated signal channel having communication system elements. Each correlated pattern data and jitter and noise component may be modified for each of the communication system element. The selectively modified correlated pattern data and jitter and noise components are combined to produce a modified communication signal that is displayed as a numeric table, eye diagram or bit error rate presentation.

  • Publication number: 20120157092
Abstract: A system and method for automatically detecting Anti-Steering of Roaming activity is disclosed. This method can be used by a monitoring system on a home network that continuously monitors all international MAP signaling with a visited network. Anti-Steering of Roaming is detected by estimating a number of roaming subscribers of different types, including a number of unique active roamers, a number of unique steered roamers, and a number of unique anti-steered roamers. The numbers of subscribers of the different types, either alone or in combination, are compared to threshold values. If the numbers exceed the threshold value, then the monitoring system alerts the home network that a visited network may be using Anti-Steering of Roaming technology.

  • Publication number: 20120159151
Abstract: A monitoring system is coupled to interfaces in an LTE network and passively captures packets from the network interfaces. First data packets associated with an authentication and key agreement procedure are captured on a first interface. Second data packets associated with the authentication and key agreement procedure are captured on a second interface. Individual ones of the first data packets are correlated to individual ones of the second data packets based upon a same parameter. An authentication vector table is created comprising information from the correlated first data packets and second data packets, wherein entries in the table comprise authentication data for a plurality of security contexts. A cipher key is identified to decipher additional packets for the user. The cipher key can also be identified in case of Inter Radio Access Technology Handover by the user equipment.

  • Publication number: 20120155324
Abstract: A network monitoring system probe is coupled to network interfaces and captures data packets. A monitoring system processor identifies messages specific to S1-MME interfaces and identifies GUMMEI parameters in the S1-MME interface messages. The monitoring system creates MME node entries in a network topology list, each of the MME nodes corresponding to a unique GUMMEI value. The monitoring system links individual S1-MME interfaces, SCTP associations, and MME IP addresses to a particular MME in the network topology list. Using authentication messages carried on the S6a and S1-MME interfaces, the monitoring system links individual S6a interfaces and S6a interface IP address to a particular MME in the network topology list and creates one or more HSS node entries in the network topology list. The monitoring system also creates eNodeB, S-GW, and PDN-GW nodes in the network topology list and links them to IP addresses and X2, S11, and S5/S8 interfaces.
