  • Patent number: 6040701
Abstract: An apparatus for providing a probing interface for a circuit under test exhibits a relatively narrow profile and a vertical orientation so that it does not block access to connectors in adjacent slots. The vertical orientation is made possible by the use of a circuit material comprising alternate sections of flexible material and rigid material. Advantageously, the signal lines between the circuit card under test and its motherboard are direct and relatively short, and the probing connection points are isolated from the direct signal lines by a plurality of isolation resistors.

  • Patent number: 6029018
Abstract: A color capable electrophotographic printer remains operable for monochrome printing when one or more toner cartridges are unavailable for use. Instead of reverting to an error state when a toner cartridge is missing or unavailable, the laser printer remains operable to print monochrome images or single "spot color" images using a single color and monochrome toner.

  • Patent number: 6027661
Abstract: A channel member for a PALC panel is fabricated from a substrate of hard transparent material by forming a layer of conductive material over an upper surface of the substrate, forming a layer of insulating material over the layer of conductive material, removing the layer of insulating material in accordance with a predetermined spatial pattern so as to expose predetermined portions of the layer of conductive material, and removing exposed portions of the layer of conductive material by erosion until parts of the upper surface of the substrate are exposed.

  • Patent number: 6029194
Abstract: An audio/video media server for distributed editing over networks receives requests from clients on the networks that include a clip identifier, a delivery destination identifier and the frame numbers from the clip desired. The media server parses the requests and asynchronously accesses a file system to retrieve the requested media frames from a storage medium. The retrieved media frames are asynchronously transferred to a FIFO buffer, and a clock rate for a local clock is adjusted according to the fullness of the buffer. The media frames from the buffer are sent in the form of data packets over the networks in response to interrupts generated by the local clock. In this manner the timing for the media frames is controlled by the clients to assure a continuous stream of video during editing.

  • Patent number: 6028138
Abstract: Urethane resins are made by reacting selected nucleophiles, such as alcohols including a hydroxyl containing toughening agent, with an isocyanate. A colored urethane resin is combined to form a phase change ink. The order of addition of the isocyanate and the different nucleophiles can tailor the distribution of di-urethane and mixed urethane/urea molecules in the final resin product. The isocyanate-derived resin materials are useful as ingredients as phase change ink carrier compositions used to make phase change ink jet inks.

  • Patent number: 6028645
Abstract: A digital video effects apparatus has a graphical user interface having a display upon which is produced a video image within a predetermined shape, the video Image being rotated in time and space to represent a 3-dimensional effect. Control points are set by a user together with rotation angles and x-y scaling parameters of the video image. The apparatus interpolates between the control points to provide a smooth transition from control point to control point. The video image is zoomed in and out as the video image changes orientation and/or size so that the video image substantially fills an image area of the graphical user interface display. In the invention the video image is tracked on the GUI display even when it is outside the normally visible screen area.

  • Patent number: 6025848
Abstract: An ancillary data distribution display presents a graphic display in Cartesian coordinates of the video line numbers for a video frame from a serial digital video data stream along one axis and a data count for each line along the other axis for ancillary data extracted from the serial digital video data stream. The data count may represent packets of data, words of data or normalized delta values based upon the average number of data words per line for the video frame. The axis representing the data count is adaptive according to the maximum data count for the data type per video frame displayed. A particular line of the serial digital video data stream may be selected, with the graphical representation being highlighted as a cursor and the selected line number and the corresponding data count being displayed alphanumerically. The video frame may be split to provide two halves of the frame side-by-side on the display.

  • Patent number: 6016556
Abstract: A system and method for locating a data sample in a logic analyzer or emulator acquisition buffer corresponding to a source code statement employs first and second windows, wherein one window displays the contents of the acquisition buffer, for example, in disassembly form and the other window displays source code. When a source code file is displayed and a specified statement is selected within the source code, a search for a matching sample in the acquisition buffer is initiated. If a sample is found, it is displayed and highlighted in the appropriate window.

  • Patent number: 6015205
Abstract: A print head restraint mechanism for limiting movement of a print head during transport of the printing apparatus is provided. The restraint mechanism includes a moveable pin that selectively engages the print head. An engaging mechanism moves the pin into and out of engagement with the print head when the print head is positioned in a restraint position. During printing the restraint mechanism is positioned away from the travel path of the print head to avoid interfering with print head motion. An interlock prevents actuation of the restraint mechanism when the print head is away from the restraint position.

  • Patent number: 6007347
Abstract: A coaxial cable 24 has an outer conductor 74 surrounding an inner conductor 70. A portion 76 of the inner conductor 70 is stripped of insulation and extends beyond the end of the outer conductor at a cable end 30. A circuit board 12 has a major surface and defines an elongated slot 34. A connection end of the slot is defined by a stop portion of the board 36, and a conductive pad 60 is provided on the board surface adjacent the stop portion at the end of the slot. The stripped portion 76 of inner conductor 70 is connected to the conductive pad 60, and at least a portion of the outer conductor 74 is received in the slot, and may be connected to another contact on the board. The stop portion of the slot is defined as a peninsular connection tab 54 by an elongated hole 50 formed on each side of said stop portion 36 of said slot. The distance between the sides of the conductive pad 60 and the near edges of the elongated holes 50 is selected to provide a predetermined transition impedance.

  • Patent number: 6003971
Abstract: An ink jet array print head (101) includes four media-width linear ink jet arrays (100). Ink flows from four sets of manifolds (106) through acoustically matched inlet filters (116), inlet ports (117), inlet channels (118), pressure chamber ports (120), and ink pressure chambers (122). Ink leaves the pressure chambers through outlet ports (124) and flows through oval outlet channels (128) to orifices (108), from which ink drops (110) are ejected. The ink pressure chambers are bounded by flexible diaphragms (130) to which piezo-ceramic transducers (132) are bonded. To minimize inter-jet cross-talk caused by pressure fluctuations in the manifolds, compliant walls (150) form one wall along the entire length of each manifold. An improved ink feed system (210) supplies four colors of ink to the print head.

  • Patent number: 6003831
Abstract: A stand for removably securing a housing of an electrical instrument to another structure. The stand has a support arm connected to the housing, with a free end movable with respect to the housing. A grip element is connected to the arm and is movable over a range of positions along the arm. The grip element has a resilient spring portion biased toward a neutral position near the arm, and the spring portion is movable to a flexed position away from the arm. Thus, the instrument may be secured to a structure by biasing the spring portion against a portion of the structure, often by capturing part of the structure between the spring and the housing, or between the spring and the arm.
