  • Patent number: 4571957
Abstract: The invention relates to a device for compensating the differences in thermal expansion of the needle cylinder and sinker ring in a circular knitting machine, with which the sinker ring is supported on projections of webs inserted into axially extending grooves in the needle cylinder. In order to compensate for the differences in thermal expansion, the top region of the needle cylinder is designed to be radially displaceable relative to the sinker ring.

  • Patent number: 4541254
Abstract: A needle selector device for a multi yarn feed knitting machine comprises a stack of angularly movable sliders mounted about a common axis, the sliders being selectively movable between three positions, namely the knitting, tucking and floating positions. The sliders define cams which depending on the selected position of the slider can engage steering butts on a pivotable pattern bar connected through a swivel bar to a knitting needle.

  • Patent number: 4489573
Abstract: In a circular knitting machine problems may arise from differential thermal expansion, particularly in a radial direction, or rotatable carrier disc (22) and a coaxial bearing body (16) in which it runs by means of a bearing (36). In order to overcome this by absorption of the differential expansion, one of the running surfaces of the bearing is formed on or supported by a resiliently yieldable part (34), which preferably also preloads the bearing. As alternatives to the illustrated embodiment, in which the yielding is axial, as indicated by the arrow A, the yielding may be radial, and also the yieldable part may be on the bearing body (16) rather than the carrier disc (22).

  • Patent number: 4236390
Abstract: Apparatus for controlling the material tension in a knitting machine, particularly a circular knitting machine, by employing a permanent magnet-excited d.c. motor and an associated circuit to drive a motor torque-dependent material take-off mechanism through the generation of a variable magnitude, pulsed current to power the motor. The magnitude of the current may be set by the operator, with the pulse/no pulse ratio of the current being controlled by the operating mode of the knitting device. In a preferred embodiment, an additional circuit monitors the operation of the current control circuit to detect and signal malfunctions.

  • Patent number: 4171628
Abstract: An improved magnetic pattern control system for circular knitting machines. Each system includes a bar forming a bearing surface. Selector elements of the knitting machine are adapted to be tipped or pivoted about the bar as they pass the bar to move corresponding knitting needles into a knitting or non-knitting position. The bar extends in the direction of travel of the selector elements. A plurality of electromagnets are mounted at each selection station of the circular knitting machine. Each electromagnet has a pair of polar surfaces. The midpoint between all pairs of polar surfaces coincide with respect to each other and these coinciding midpoints are therefore equidistant from the bar forming the bearing surface.

  • Patent number: 4090377
Abstract: An arrangement for producing synchronization pulses for pattern control of the knitting needles of a circular knitting machine. The arrangement includes a plurality of control units mounted on, for example, the cam housing, which units coact with the butts of the knitting needles mounted on the needle cylinder. The number of control units per knitting system is equal to (n) which corresponds to the number of different types of selector elements. A raster system, forming part of a ring which rotates with the needle cylinder, coacts with a pick-up unit mounted on the cam housing. The pick-up unit includes a plurality of pick elements which emit signals in accordance with the scanning of the raster system.

  • Patent number: 4027506
Abstract: A knitted fabric draw-off and take-up arrangement for circular knitting machines, including an idle take-up roller and at least one driven draw-off roller. The tubular knitted fabric is passed from the draw-off roller to the take-up roller and is then returned to the draw-off roller after passing around the take-up roller and finally is returned and secured to the take-up roller thereby the tubular knitted fabric is wound onto the take-up roller and also drives this idle take-up roller.

  • Patent number: 3996769
Abstract: An improvement in multi-feed circular knitting machines wherein the knitting needles are adapted to assume knitting and non-knitting conditions and whereas the jacks are suspended in the knitting needles in an articulated manner. The cam clyinder is provided with a needle lowering cam at each cam system. Each jack has at least one butt adapted to be engaged by the needle lowering cam when the corresponding jack has been swivelled on to the cam cylinder. The improvement comprises the construction and the manner of interaction of the butts and the needle lowering cam. The butts are arranged on the swivellable jacks and are selectively adapted to be pivoted away from the cam cylinder by means of a special pivoting device in each system when the corresponding needle is to misknit, that is in advance of the needle lowering cam of the system and are adapted to be swivelled back to their original position by special means immediately after having passed the needle lowering cam.

  • Patent number: 3930384
Abstract: Compound knitting needles are operatively mounted in a circular knitting machine and coact with a special simplified cam system. Each of the compound needles has a butt-free hook part and a latch. The latch has a first butt and is shiftable relative to the hook part and the hook part has an abutment which drives the tongue part. A lifting element is articulated to the hook part. The lifting element has a second butt and is radially movable by selecting members between an operative and inoperative position. When the lifting element is in the operative position it moves the hook part articulated thereto in accordance with the cam system of the circular knitting machine.
