  • Patent number: 4560570
Abstract: A porous food product is prepared by mixing sodium alginate and a calcium compound with ground fish or meat, heating the mixture, introducing a pressurized gas and an acid into the mixture, the acid liberating calcium ions from the calcium compound to cause the sodium alginate to form a gel which confers a porous structure on the product, and reducing the pressure to liberate gas and form gas bubbles in the product.

  • Patent number: 4560567
Abstract: A method for the preparation and packing of food products, in particular fish products of long keeping quality, includes disintegrating and sterilizing the fish and allowing the sterilized fish mass to coagulate under pressure in a forming and filling pipe. An inside cross-section of the filling pipe corresponds to the cross-section of the packing container wherein the product is to be packed. The forming and filling pipe is provided, moreover, with cut-off elements and flaplike shut-off elements to make possible the separation and feeding out of the product from the forming and filling pipe to the packing containers.

  • Patent number: 4522305
Abstract: Opening arrangements for packing containers which are manufactured from a flexible material and intended for pressurized contents, e.g. beer, are sometimes in the form of a tear-off cover strip which is sealed to the packing container wall and covers a pouring opening punched out in the same. In order to withstand the high internal pressure which is caused by the contents, the seal between the cover strip and the packing material must be strong, which detrimentally affects the openability of the packing container. By ensuring that the mutual bond between the different layers in the packing laminate is weaker than the seal between the cover strip and the outer layer of the container material, a readily opening packing container is provided, in spite of the seal between the cover strip and the packing laminate being of a strength such that the risk of leakage or unintentional opening is small.

  • Patent number: 4512838
Abstract: A method for joining together laminated material including layers of orientation-stretched polyester and glycol-modified polyester. A strand of molten glycol-modified polyester is applied to the laminated material along the joining area and the laminated material is pressed together while the strand is cooled. The laminated material is joined together by transferring heat from the molten strand to the pressed-on layers of the laminate. The surface portions of the layers are melted at the same time as the strand is cooled.

  • Patent number: 4464154
Abstract: An opening structure preferably located in a top panel of a one-way packaging container provides a pour opening which can be reclosed after the initial opening. The structure is prepared by positioning and sewing a portion of a strip of web material on the panel, defining a pour opening area within the secured strip portion by applying a cut or weakening line forming a boundary. The pour opening area of the panel is retained in its original position in the panel. Then a second, unsecured portion of the strip is folded back over the first portion to cover the first portion and the pour opening area. Securing zones are produced to secure the second strip portion to the panel both within the pour opening area and a surrounding region to thereby obtain a hermetically sealed opening structure on the packaging container. The pour opening is uncovered by lifting the second strip portion so that the cut-out section of the panel is removed.

  • Patent number: 4430543
Abstract: Inductors for the induction welding of complicated welding patterns have been produced up to now mostly from copper plates which were provided with slits in the desired patterns by spark-cutting and embedded into plastic material. This method of manufacture is expensive and does not allow production of inductors with a very detailed pattern because, among other things, the slits must have a minimum width determined by the spark-cutting. By making the inductors in accordance with the present invention having a thin copper foil which is applied onto the surface of an insulating material, these difficulties are overcome and the desired inductor pattern can be produced in a simple manner by etching with the help of a suitable acid. This makes possible great accuracy of detail so that detailed inductors, e.g. for the packaging industry, can be manufactured at low costs.

  • Patent number: 4411370
Abstract: An opening arrangement for cans which are made of sheet steel. The opening arrangement has two preferably U-shaped punched lines provided in the lid of the can. The punched lines wholly penetrate the can lid (2) and form two opposing tongues, which are separated by a narrow intermediate portion of the can lid. The punched out tongues as well as the intermediate portion are jointly covered by an inner cover strip fixed to the inside of the can lid which bridges over and seals the punched lines forming the tongues. On opening the can the two tongues are turned in unison, the intermediate portion acting as an axis of rotation, so that the tongues are placed at an angle and an opening in the lid is established.

  • Patent number: 4391385
Abstract: The invention relates to a closing arrangements on cans and similar containers of the type which has at least one plane end wall of sheet metal with a hole punched out in the end wall. The cut surface of the said punched-out hole may be sealed effectively by a closing arrangement which is designed as a tubular plastic body with flanges projecting from the plastic body. The flanges embrace the edge zone of the hole when the closing arrangement is pressed into the hole, at the same time as the said cut edge of the end wall is pressed so as to form a seal against, or "is embedded in," the outside of the tubular plastic body.

  • Patent number: 4387820
Abstract: The closing of packing containers, e.g. bottles for beer or refreshing beverages, is achieved by means of metal or plastic caps. A cap which is easy to handle and which is reclosable is disclosed. A substantially conventional cap body of flexible plastic material is provided with locking devices in the form of integrated lever arms, which can be maneuvered by means of a ring surrounding the cap body. The locking devices in closed position rest against a bulge located around the neck of the bottle and can be maneuvered with the help of the ring to an open position in which they permit the unhindered removal or replacement of the cap.

  • Patent number: 4384440
Abstract: The invention relates to a continuous manufacture of packing containers comprising an outer rigid casing and an inner baglike container. The inner container is manufactured by arranging first seals in pairs at equal distances, substantially in transverse direction of the web, whereupon mandrels are introduced into the web which has been provided with seals. Opening devices are applied to the web with the help of the mandrels as backing. After the mandrels have been withdrawn the free edges of the web are sealed to one another and the contents are introduced into the tube formed. The tube is sealed in its transverse direction along narrow sealing regions to form filled and closed containers which are separated from one another and are introduced into a rigid casing.
