  • Patent number: 5178787
Abstract: A toilet cleaning block which releases a halogen disinfecting agent in a controlled, substantially constant rate for 2 to about 4 months of constant contact with water and is then completely dissolved in the water comprises an admixture of an agent which releases a halogen disinfecting agent when in contact with water, about 4 to 10% aluminum hydroxide based on the total weight of the block and up to about 1% by weight of a mold release lubricant, said admixture being in the form of a coherent solid resistant to internal water penetration having a density of 1.10 to 1.60 g/cc, a ratio of effective surface area to weight of about 1:1.05 to 1:1.25 and a crush fracturing strength of about 9-109 kg.

  • Patent number: 5163616
Abstract: An air freshener device which indicates when air freshening fragrance formulation contained therein is consumed. The device has a plurality of chambers which contain the same or different fragrance formulations. The inner walls of the chambers are contrastingly colored with respect to the fragrance formulation so that, when the fragrance formulation is consumed, the colored walls are exposed indicating to the user that the formulation within that chamber has been depleted. The multi-chamber feature of the device provides the possibility of multiple fragrance choices and, at the same time, allows for the release of fragrance for an extended period of time.

  • Patent number: 5032384
Abstract: Synergistic compositions comprising an antioxidant and an arylpropionic, non-steroidal anti-imflammatory drug used to treat certain diseases are disclosed. The compositions inhibit production of arachidonic acid cascade end-products which have been implicated as causes of tissue-destruction in periodontal disease. The compositions are administered in combination with a carrier, which may be a mucosal-tenacious polymer selected from the groups of semi-solid pastes, gels, ointments, liquids or films.

  • Patent number: 5007556
Abstract: A system accurately dispenses fluid by filling a metering chamber with fluid from a container. A barrier is used to pressurize the fluid so that substantially no vapor or gas remains within the metering chamber and so that substantially no vapor or gas exists within the containe. A metered dose is dispensed from the metering chamber through a valved outlet.

  • Patent number: 4896382
Abstract: An automatic bottom-of-the-tank toilet bowl cleaner device which dispenses a metered amount of cleaning solution into a toilet bowl after each flush. The device has a reservoir which contains concentrated cleaning solution. The reservoir has a vent which is ordinarily closed off by a flotation unit, thus preventing the cleaning solution from being released into the tank. When the toilet is flushed, the water level in the tank drops, thereby lowering the flotation unit, allowing air to enter the reservoir through the vent, and releasing a measured quantity of cleaning solution into the toilet tank.

  • Patent number: 4544356
Abstract: A dental prophylactic device has a handle section containing a drive member and a driven section at a substantial angle to the handle section containing a driven member also at an angle to the driving member. The handle section includes a longitudinally oscillatable cam follower supported parallel to the handle axis. When the cam follower is translated around the axis by the rotation of the drive shaft, it is caused to oscillate by one end contacting the stationary cam follower track. The other end engages a slot parallel to the axis of a cam at an angle to the cam follower thereby causing the cam to oscillate back and forth over an arc of at least 50.degree. to approximately 150.degree., maintaining the connection between the cam follower and the cam by the use of the slot which permits the cam follower, in effect, to move up and down with respect to the cam as it oscillates.

  • Patent number: 4534070
Abstract: A water treatment container for utilization in a tank of a toilet bowl having an upper chamber through which water may circulate; an intermediate wall separating the upper chamber from a lower chamber, the intermediate wall carrying water treatment material which may be used up and if necessary a ballast material, the lower chamber being sealed to be buoyant. The weight of the water treatment material and, if necessary, the ballast, is such as to hold the container in the tank in an orientation where the air chamber is the lower one standing on the bottom wall of the tank. An additional chamber at the bottom of the container having an opening extending to the bottom wall is provided, said additional chamber carrying a water coloring material.

  • Patent number: 4534071
Abstract: An automatic dispenser for disinfectant and bowl cleaning material adapted to be suspended stationarily in the tank of a flushing bowl wherein the dispenser comprises a container with ball valve floated against the tapered interior of an upper opening in the container and an adjustable drainpipe in the bottom of the container with the adjustable drainpipe having an upper tapered opening and a ball valve for closing the same as well as lower openings extending downwardly outside the container providing passage for container water or tank water as the case may be. In operation the two ball valves are floated to the top of their respective openings sealing the openings and isolating the water in the dispensing container. The dispensing container is provided with preferably a block of soluble disinfectant cleaning material such as a hypochlorite which will dissolve very slowly into the water in the container.
