Abstract: An oxidative hair dye system comprises a hair dye, an organometallic compound and an oxidising agent. The organometallic compound is preferably an organotitanate compound, particularly a tetraalkyl titanate or a titanate chelate. Such compounds are also useful for enhancing the substantivity of topical compositions applied to the body, which comprise one or more cosmetic and/or therapeutic benefit agents, a bonding agent having hydrolysable or exchangeable ligands, and a carrier.

Abstract: Use of a composition comprising oil bodies in the preparation of a formulation for administration to a mammal wherein said composition comprises oil curd 5 extracted from grain plant tissue, said oil curd comprising an aqueous dispersion of oil bodies and associated extrinsic protein material. Preferably, the oil curd is extracted from oat seed material. The composition has useful properties in improving the stability of 10 formulations, in particular in emulsifying such formulations and in improving the aesthetic acceptability of a formulation. Also, the compositions are useful in the delivery of actives into the skin &/or hair and in the regulation of the condition of the skin &/or hair. 15 Processes for the preparation of said composition and formulations are also disclosed.

Abstract: There are described personal care compositions containing a) one or more dibenzoylmethane sunscreening agents; and b) a photostablising amount of a salicylate ester of formula (1): (2-OH)Ph-(CO)—O—R, wherein R represents an alkyl group consisting of a chain of from 7 to 16 carbon atoms substituted by at least one group selected from methyl and ethyl. The compound of formula (1) is preferably isodecyl salicylate or isotridecyl salicylate. The salicylate esters of formula (1) have a stabilizing effect on the compositions. The salicylate esters prevent or inhibit degradation of the sunscreening agents which would otherwise lead to a reduction in the efficacy of the sunscreening agents and an increase in the deleterious effects of exposure to sunlight on the user of the compositions or on the compositions themselves.

Abstract: There is disclosed a skincare composition suitable for topical application to the skin. The composition comprises two or more active ingredients selected from the group consisting of a) dipalmitoyl hydroxyproline, salts and esters thereof; b) carnitine; and c) an extract of Haematococcus pluvialis. Compositions prepared in accordance with the invention are useful for improving the appearance of the skin.

Abstract: A hair coloring composition contains an oxidative hair dye and at least one antioxidant agent selected from the group consisting of rosmarinus officinalis, origanum vulgare, camellia sinensis, camellia oleifera, salvia officinalis, apium graveolen, thymus vulgaris, rosa canina and coriandrum sativum in combination with a suitable diluent or carrier. The hair coloring compositions are gentler on the skin and hair in that they reduce the effects or the oxidising agent on the hair and skin.
