  • Patent number: 4345701
Abstract: A novel connection for a thermoplastic neck to a stub neck portion of a container, comprising a curl on the stub neck portion and a complimentary groove on the neck which cooperate to permit a portion of the neck below the curl to expand when a plug of the closure cap, which is threaded onto the neck, is inserted into the neck. The neck and neck portion have interlocking projections to prevent the neck from turning and the neck and cap having a novel thread arrangement which insures that the plug will properly enter into the neck and provide a good seal which could be frustrated if the neck was permitted to turn.

  • Patent number: 4342895
Abstract: This relates to the heating of polyethylene terephthalate by way of RF energy. It has been found that if polyethylene terephthalate articles are passed through a radio frequency energy field, the molecules thereof will become excited and rapid heating will result. This heating is particularly useful in the heating of preforms prior to the blow molding thereof and by varying the configuration and relationship of electrodes, controlled heating of the preforms may be effected with it being possible to have a controlled temperature differential along the length of the preform or other article so heated.

  • Patent number: 4341330
Abstract: An aerosol container in the form of a conventional type of aerosol can wherein the lower part of the body is provided with external threads with which internal threads of a cup-shaped pump member are engaged so as to define, in conjunction with the lower closure unit, a pump chamber. Suitable inlet check valves are carried by the lower closure unit and a bottom wall of the pump chamber so that air under pressure may be forced into the can internally to pressurize the can. A dispening valve unit is also provided which includes a shutoff valve for preventing dispensing of the product when the pressure within the can goes below a predetermined level.

  • Patent number: 4335821
Abstract: This disclosure relates to a minor change in the bottom configuration of a blow molded container and bottle formed of a plastic material which compensates for shrinkage in the bottom structure due to improper cooling whereby the improper cooling may be advantageously utilized to provide for a marked decrease in the blow molding cycle time.

  • Patent number: 4334627
Abstract: This disclosure relates to an unexpected increase in the strength of a bottle bottom of the champagne type by the addition of ribs internally of the preform when the preform is axially stretched prior to the blowing thereof within the blow mold. Most particularly, by adding internal ribs to the interior surface of the bottom defining portion of the preform, the preform has the bottom forming portion unduly strengthened against shrinkage in wall thickness when the preform is axially lengthened through the use of a stretch rod. The net result is that the stretching of the preform and the thinning of the wall is held to a minimum in the bottom forming portion of the preform and is transferred primarily to the body forming portion of the preform where lesser wall thickness does not unduly detract from the strength of the bottle.

  • Patent number: 4333599
Abstract: A hinge member for securing a handle on a drum. The hinge member is in the form of a bent strip of metal which interlocks to a conventional crimped-on cover and, once the cover is applied to the open end of the drum, the hinge member is securely fixed in place. The hinge member includes a receptacle portion which receives both a curl at the lower end of the cover skirt and the pivot shaft of the handle so that the handle, when utilized, is trapped between the curl and a lower portion of the hinge member.

  • Patent number: 4332015
Abstract: A remote recording and playback system comprises a recording unit for recording analog data received virtually simultaneously over a plurality of analog input channels, and a playback unit for playing back said recorded analog data for a given one of the plurality of analog input channels. The recording unit sequentially scans the plurality of analog input channels in succession to derive respective analog data samples, converts the respective analog data samples to digital form, and stores the digital representations of the analog data samples in a random access memory. The playback unit accesses the random access memory in the recording unit, converts the digital representations derived therefrom to analog signals, and displays the previously recorded analog data, one channel at a time. The system is further characterized by the storage and retrieval of "drift" and D.C.

  • Patent number: 4331249
Abstract: This relates to a closure member for containers wherein products are packaged under pressurized conditions. The closure member has a flowed-in liner, and in order to prevent relative movement between the liner and the closure member of the closure assembly, there is provided an interlock between the base of the liner and the base of a channel in which the liner is formed. This abstract forms no part of the specification of this application and is not to be construed as limiting the claims of the application.

  • Patent number: 4325490
Abstract: An easy opening container panel wherein a removable panel portion is primarily defined by a line of weakness or a score line. The line of weakness has a predetermined starting portion which is defined by a fracture in the residual of the container panel. The fracturing of the residual as opposed to a shearing thereof has the advantages of the elimination of the rapidly dulling lance required to effect the usual puncturing and at the same time the jagged edges resulting from the fracturing provide a mechanical interlock so that there is only a minimal weakening of the container panel over and above that provided by the score line.
