  • Patent number: 10287527
Abstract: Agricultural residues (biomasses) have come-up as potential valuable renewable resources for transformation into many bio-products. To achieve this goal, the isolation of major biopolymers in their purest form through an economical process is demanded for synthesis of the target fine chemicals without impurities. However, the difficulty of fractionating the biomass into cellulose, hemicellulose and lignin by a simple method has greatly limited their isolation from agricultural residues. Also, the lipids and waxes present on the surface of the agricultural residues protect it from external chemical and microbial agents. To overcome this issue, the lipids and waxes have been isolated from the biomass through two step organic solvents extraction. Thereafter lignin, hemicellulose and cellulose are isolated successively from the de-waxed biomass.

  • Patent number: 10262764
Abstract: The conventional radiation shielding materials are made using lead, barite and hematite ore which are either toxic, costly and are non-replinshable possessing limited functionality. In view of above, we develop a novel process for making advanced non-toxic Red Mud based functional radiation shielding materials utilizing appropriate novel matrixes like Advanced geopolymer, geopolymeric-polymeric matrix, putty, cement and phosphatic based matrix and are also compatible with conventional matrixes. The appropriate physico-chemical consolidation and or densification of red mud using advanced or conventional matrix helps in obtaining functional radiation shielding material by simultaneous and synergistic chemical reactions among various mineralogical and chemical compounds of red mud with complementary various chemical compounds present in citrus fruit peel waste especially citric acid to form nano gel material to obtain the fine “tailored shielding powder”.

  • Patent number: 10260155
Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for the preparation of Calcium Silicate Hydrate anion exchange membrane (cement paste) with an ionic conductivity of the order of 10?3 S/cm. The membrane can be formulated by mixing Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC) and water with the cement to water ratio of 1:0.45. After initial setting time, the membrane undergoes curing in 7% calcium chloride solution and the Cl? ions in the membrane is converted to OH? form by immersing into saturated Ca(OH)2 solution with pH 14 and it has been washed to remove the excess alkali. This membrane has high mechanical strength (Ultimate Tensile Strength: 6.3 MPa) and does not deteriorate even at high temperature (up to 450° C.) and alkaline atmosphere (pH 11.5-14). Also disclosed is a method of producing in-situ formation of membrane electrode assembly. This invention encompasses a process for producing and using the membrane in water electrolysis and fuel cell.
