Abstract: A modular flow battery includes a battery stack container housing a plurality of redox flow battery stacks in fluid communication with at least one pair of electrolyte containers including an anolyte container for holding an anolyte and a catholyte container for holding a catholyte. Additional pairs of electrolyte containers can be connected to the battery stack container to increase an amount of energy that can be stored by the modular flow battery system. Respective housings enclosing each of the battery stack container and the electrolyte containers are configured for operation in a stacked configuration. In this manner, the energy storage capacity of the modular flow battery system can be further increased with substantially no increase in a lateral area occupied by the system.

Abstract: A dynamic auto-adaptive volt/VAR control includes a memory storing program code, a communications channel operatively connected to a volt/VAR device, and a processor. The processor is configured to access a database of prior system knowledge and receive real-time measurements and power system operating condition information. The processor processes the prior system knowledge and the real time measurements and operating condition information to create a set of commands for voltage and reactive power control that will result in at least one of: (a) maintaining a voltage profile at the volt/VAR device within predefined limits, or (b) reducing electrical losses through voltage optimization. The processor causes the set of commands to be sent to the volt/VAR device.

Abstract: A flashlight assembly includes a body having a head portion at one end and an opposing tapered tail portion and a clamping assembly on a bottom side of the body. The tail portion of the body tapers rearwardly towards a tail end thereof and downwardly from an upper side towards the bottom side, such that the tail end of the tail portion merges with the bottom side of the body and forms an inclined contoured surface extending from the bottom side to the top side. A contoured switch is mounted within the inclined angled surface of the tapered tail portion, and includes a safety bail pivotably movable to selectively mechanically impede operation of the switch.

Abstract: A flashlight assembly includes an elongated flashlight body having a fixed clamp component. A movable clamp component opposes the fixed clamp. A threaded clamping fastener extends through the movable clamp component and into the body to draw the movable clamp component into engagement with the body. A removable, reversible crossbar extends transversely across the body between the fixed clamp component and the movable clamp component in a spline channel. The crossbar has both a universal rail side and a MIL-STD 1913 rail side.

Abstract: The invention provides a manufacturing method of a negative electrode material for a secondary battery. The manufacturing method includes following steps. A silicon-containing material is provided. The alkaline treatment is performed on the silicon containing material by placing the silicon containing material into an alkaline solution to obtain a modified silicon material. A peak intensity of the silicon-containing material at 3600 cm?1 to 3000 cm?1 in the spectrum by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) is I0, and a peak intensity of the modified silicon material at 3600 cm?1 to 3000 cm?1 in the spectrum by FTIR is I1, wherein 0.9<I0/I1<1.
Abstract: The invention is directed to a process for forming a particle film on a substrate. Preferably, a series of corona guns, staggered to optimize film thickness uniformity, are oriented on both sides of a slowly translating grounded substrate (copper or aluminum for the anode or cathode, respectively). The substrate is preferably slightly heated to induce binder flow, and passed through a set of hot rollers that further induce melting and improve film uniformity. The sheeting is collected on a roll or can be combined in-situ and rolled into a single-cell battery. The invention is also directed to products formed by the processes of the invention and, in particular, batteries.
Abstract: A sleeve and plug launcher for launching a sleeve and plug down an oil or gas well includes sleeve and plug holders, a support plate beneath the open bottoms of the sleeve and plug holders, an aperture positioned in the support plate and a sleeve and plug discharge connectable to a well head of a well and positioned below the aperture. When one of the sleeve and plug holders stops over the aperture in the support plate, a sleeve and plug in the sleeve and plug holders drops through the aperture and is directed into a wellhead by the sleeve and plug discharge.
