Patents Assigned to The Gillette Company LLC
  • Patent number: 11759965
Abstract: A razor blade including: a substrate having a tip portion including a tip region, a blade body including a base, and first and second outer sides disposed opposite a split line of the substrate that converge at a tip; and first and second coatings disposed substantially on the first and second outer sides, respectively. Also provided is a method of coating the razor blade, including: applying a first coating to at least a portion of the first outer side; and applying a second coating to at least a portion of the second outer side. The first and second coatings each extend from the tip region toward the base and are substantially different, as compared to each other. One or both of the first and second coatings comprise a plurality of layers of material.

  • Patent number: 11752651
Abstract: A novel cutting-edge structure and method and apparatus for manufacturing the cutting-edge structure is provided. The cutting-edge structure is comprised of naturally derived or renewable material at greater than 50% by volume fraction. In one embodiment, the naturally derived material is a cellulose nanostructure such as a cellulose nanocrystal. The cellulose nanocrystal is processed using a base or mold structure to provide a cutting edge of any shape such as linear or circular edge structures. The process includes dual cure steps to produce an optimal cutting-edge structure without shrinkage. The formed cutting-edge structure can be utilized as a razor blade as it is formed with very sharp tip and edge suitable for cutting hair. The base structure can form one or more cutting-edge structures simultaneously.

  • Patent number: 11741606
Abstract: A digital imaging method of analyzing pixel data of an image of a user's body for determining a user-specific hair removal efficiency value after removing hair is disclosed. The digital imaging method includes: aggregating training images of respective individuals' bodies after removing hair; training, using the pixel data of the training images, a hair removal efficiency model to determine hair removal efficiency values associated with a degree of hair removal efficiencies ranging from a least efficient to a most efficient; receiving an image of a user's body after removing hair; analyzing by the user image using the hair removal efficiency model to determine a user-specific hair removal efficiency value; generating a user-specific electronic recommendation designed to address a feature identifiable within the pixel data of the user's body based on the user-specific hair removal efficiency value; and rendering the recommendation on a display screen of a user computing device.

  • Patent number: 11734823
Abstract: Digital imaging systems and methods are described for determining a user-specific skin irritation value of a user's skin after removing hair. An example method may be performed by one or more processors and may include aggregating training images comprising pixel data of skin of individuals after removing hair. A skin irritation model may be trained using the training images to output skin irritation values associated with a degree of skin irritation from least to most irritation. The method may include receiving an image of a user including pixel data of the user's skin after hair is removed from the skin, analyzing the image using the skin irritation model to determine a user-specific skin irritation value, generating a user-specific recommendation designed to address a feature identifiable within the pixel data of the user's skin, and rendering the recommendation on a display screen of a user computing device.

  • Patent number: 11731299
Abstract: A shaving razor cartridge with a housing having a top surface and a bottom surface. A guard is at the front of the housing. A cap is at a rear of the housing. At least one blade is mounted to the housing between the guard and the cap. The housing has a wall defining an opening extending from the top surface to the bottom surface that is configured to receive a portion of a handle. The wall having a pair of arms each with a distal end extending toward each other defining a gap. The bridge is a thermo-plastic elastomer that is different than a polymeric material of the housing.
