Abstract: A medical support device includes a processor, in which the processor is configured to acquire intestinal tract direction-related information related to an intestinal tract direction of a duodenum into which an endoscope scope is inserted, based on geometrical characteristic information capable of specifying a geometrical characteristic of the duodenum; and output the intestinal tract direction-related information.
Abstract: A medical support device includes a processor. The processor is configured to acquire first reference part information capable of three-dimensionally specifying a reference part included in a duodenum based on a captured image obtained by imaging an intestinal wall of the duodenum with an endoscope scope; acquire second reference part information related to the reference part and direction information related to a running direction of a duct leading to the duodenum from volume data; generate a three-dimensional running direction image in which the running direction is imaged in accordance with the captured image based on the direction information adjusted by matching the first reference part information with the second reference part information; display the captured image on a screen; and display the three-dimensional running direction image in the captured image.
Abstract: A probe part includes a base member defining a first bore. A first elongated elastic member includes a near end secured to the base member and extends therefrom to a far end and defines a channel in communication with the first bore and that runs lengthwise with the first elongated elastic member. A first tendon has a first end and an opposite second end that is secured to the first elongated elastic member adjacent to the far end. The first tendon runs through the channel adjacent the first side and exits through the first bore exiting outwardly therefrom. Applying tension to the first tendon causes the first elongated elastic member to bend in the direction of the first side.

Abstract: A laparoscopic medical device includes an oximeter sensor at its tip, which allows making oxygen saturation measurements laparoscopically. The laparoscopic medical device includes a probe unit and a laparoscopic tube that detachably connects with the probe unit so that the laparoscopic tube can be replaced for different patient surgeries and the probe unit can be reused for the different surgeries. The probe unit includes a number of transmitting optical fibers and the detachable laparoscopic tube includes a number of receiving optical fibers where tips of the transmitting and receiving optical fibers connect end to end. Cores of the transmitting optical fibers have smaller numerical apertures than cores of the receiving optical fibers to facilitate a high percentage of light transmission from the transmitting optical fibers to the receiving optical fibers even when the cores of the transmitting and receiving optical fibers are misaligned at their connecting ends.

Abstract: Various implementations of the invention relate to a silicon-embedded multi-spectral lidar system and method for non-invasive, remote monitoring of pathological conditions of an individual. The system integrates multiple laser sources, photodetectors, and a processing module onto a silicon chip, enabling the capture and analysis of spatial, spectral, scattering and temporal data from a target subject (e.g., individual). By utilizing lidar signals at various wavelengths, various implementations of the invention detect three-dimensional (“3D”) surface and subsurface features such as micro-movements, vascular patterns, pigmentation changes, and tissue differences and/or irregularities. Machine learning algorithms process this information from the lidar to identify and classify abnormalities, enabling applications such as heart rate and respiration monitoring, eye movement tracking for neurological and mental health assessment, and detection of pathological skin conditions like cancer.
