Abstract: A method includes providing an oscillator having a field effect transistor connected with a resonant circuit. The field effect transistor has a gate electrode coupled to a source of gate voltage, a source electrode, a drain electrode and a graphene channel disposed between the source electrode and the drain electrode and electrically connected thereto. The method further includes biasing the graphene channel via the gate electrode into a negative differential resistance region of operation to cause the oscillator to generate a frequency signal having a resonant frequency f0. There can be an additional step of varying the gate voltage so as to bias the graphene channel into the negative differential resistance region of operation and out of the negative differential resistance region of operation so as to turn on the frequency signal and to turn off the frequency signal, respectively.

Abstract: A clustered network may include a plurality of switch boxes where a master switch box may communicate and control hardware devices in remote switch boxes. The switch boxes in the network may each include a multiplexer, for example, a field programmable array (FPGA) that may process message requests related to hardware devices of a switch box. If the hardware device is in a remote switch box, then the FPGA of the master switch box may process the status data from the remote switch box so that a local processor in the master switch box can read the status data.

Abstract: An integrated circuit (IC) chip is disclosed including a plurality of metal vertical interconnect accesses (vias) in a back end of line (BEOL) layer, a redistribution layer (RDL) on the BEOL layer, the BEOL layer having a plurality of bond pads, each bond pad connected to at least one corresponding metal via through the RDL; and a solder bump connected to each bond pad, wherein each solder bump is laterally offset from the corresponding metal via connected to the bond pad towards a center of the IC chip by an offset distance, wherein the offset distance is non-uniform across the IC chip. In one embodiment, the offset distance for each solder bump is proportionate to a distance between the center of the IC chip and the center of the corresponding solder bump pad structure for that solder bump.

Abstract: A system performs facility sanitization management. The system includes a computer processor and logic executable by the computer processor. The logic performs receiving a condition of an individual and determining the condition is on a pre-defined list of conditions, and receiving tracking information indicative of locations in a facility traversed by the individual. The logic also performs retrieving, from a first database, at least one solution for eliminating elements of the condition, and retrieving, from a second database, pre-defined structures and materials disposed in the locations, and identifying prescribed cleaning methods for the pre-defined structures and materials. The logic further performs creating a clean-up job for each of the locations using the at least one solution and based on the prescribed cleaning methods.

Abstract: A method for solving a two-stage non-linear stochastic formulation for the economic dispatch problem under renewable-generation uncertainty. Certain generation decisions are made only in the first stage and fixed for the subsequent (second) stage, where the actual renewable generation is realized. The uncertainty in renewable output is captured by a finite number of scenarios. Any resulting supply-demand mis-match must then be alleviated using high marginal-cost power sources that can be tapped in short time frames. The solution implements two outer approximation algorithms to solve this nonconvex optimization problem to optimality. Under certain conditions the sequence of optimal solutions obtained under both alternatives has a limit point that is a globally-optimal solution to the original two-stage nonconvex program. A further decomposition approach derived from the Alternating Direction Method of Multipliers algorithm is implemented.

Abstract: A contiguous layer of graphene is formed on exposed sidewall surfaces and a topmost surface of a copper-containing structure that is present on a surface of a substrate. The presence of the contiguous layer of graphene on the copper-containing structure reduces copper oxidation and surface diffusion of copper ions and thus improves the electromigration resistance of the structure. These benefits can be obtained using graphene without increasing the resistance of copper-containing structure.

Abstract: A speech recognition system, method of recognizing speech and a computer program product therefor. A client device identified with a context for an associated user selectively streams audio to a provider computer, e.g., a cloud computer. Speech recognition receives streaming audio, maps utterances to specific textual candidates and determines a likelihood of a correct match for each mapped textual candidate. A context model selectively winnows candidate to resolve recognition ambiguity according to context whenever multiple textual candidates are recognized as potential matches for the same mapped utterance. Matches are used to update the context model, which may be used for multiple users in the same context.
