Abstract: A frame assembly (1) for mounting doors and the like comprising a pair of jambs (2, 3) and a header (4) for connecting said jambs, and, where required, a sill, each said jambs and header and sill (5) where required being a compression molding of filler, waste, or recycled particulate material bound together by a thermoplastic binder, each said jambs (2, 3) and header (4) presenting when assembled an inwardly facing planar surface of a width to receive a door to be mounted in said frame assembly and an inwardly projecting door stop shoulder formation projecting inwardly of said planar surface.
Abstract: A method of fabricating a rectilinear window frame comprising cutting a length of extruded frame profile having a body portion and an integral nailing fin into four lengths from opposite sides of the profile at forty-five degrees (45°) with the cuts meeting at a point intermediate the width of the nailing fin, then assembling the four sections into the rectangular frame. The invention is also directed to frames produced by such method.
Abstract: The installation of a garden window which encloses an opening in the wall of a building is effected by installing a support structure above the wall opening from which the garden window can be hung, then hanging the garden window from this structure in opening closing position and then permanently securing same to the wall. Also included in the invention are the garden window itself and its hanger support to facilitate such installation.
Abstract: Installation of a basement window system by assembling the window system between a pair of novel window forms releasably secured thereto. This assembly is maintained during the erection of the foundation wall into which the window system is incorporated and the erection of above grade wall after which the window forms are removed.
Abstract: A window which comprises a hollow mullion plastic extrusion and a metal insert. The plastic extrusion is of a general T-shape having a hollow head portion and a hollow foot portion connected by a hollow stem portion which is open to both the hollow head and foot. The metal insert is of general T-shape having a head portion of the plastic extrusion, a stem portion to extend through the hollow stem of the plastic extrusion to support same and a foot portion to fit within and expand the hollow foot portion of the plastic extrusion.
Abstract: A window frame incorporating a sliding sash, the frame providing increased water resistance by incorporating an integral J-rail return, the return portion of which has a double wall to provide a depending trough at the bottom of the frame with a wall forming a chamber including the trough, opening from the bottom of the frame into the chamber and from the bottom of the trough to the exterior to provide increased dam height against water backing up and spilling over the interior sill of the frame.
Abstract: A storage box comprises a rectangular bottom, a rear wall, a front wall, a first end wall closing one end of said box, a second end wall hinged to one of the front and rear walls for opening and closing the other end of the box and a cover hinged to the rear wall for opening and closing the box at the top, the box being dimensioned to permit a lawnmower or the like to be run into said box through the end with the hinged end wall swung open and then stored within the box with the hinged end and the cover closed.
Abstract: A method of converting stripped roofing material into a useful product comprising feeding roofing material removed during repair or reroofing of a building roof into a shredder introducing particles of material from said shredder together with particles of thermoplastic material and a particulate filler material into a high intensity mixer to form a batch of material to be mixed, intensely mixing said batch of material to produce a heated mass of hot particles of roofing material and filler material coated with molten thermoplastic, then molding said heated mass under pressure into a desired end product. The invention also includes products produced utilizing said stripped roofing material.
Abstract: A frame for supporting steel cladding panels of steel clad doors and doors formed therewith, the frames comprising a pair of jambs connected by headers and sills, each jamb comprising a molded channel of composite plastic material having within the channel integral bracing extending between the channel side walls.
Abstract: A fence section comprising at least two elongated parallel hollow plastic fence rails having a series of registering apertures in opposing walls thereof to provide a series of picket receiving, passages therethrough spaced along and perpendicular to their length. A plurality of plastic pickets are inserted through the rail passages with the pickets in line along the length of the rails. Each picket has a passageway therethrough located within the rails. An elongated metal reinforcing and locking member is located within and slidable longitudinally of the rails to project through the aligned picket passageways to lock the pickets from removal from the rails while reinforcing the rails.
Abstract: Hinge member extrusions for use in forming a hinge connection, each member having a front wall and a rear wall and presenting at one edge a generally C-shaped socket formation, the socket formation having a first part circular edge wall segment extending arcuately inwardly of the edge of the front wall to adjacent the rear wall and being connected thereto, and a second part circular arm segment connected to an end of the first part circular wall segment by a web extending inwardly of the first part circular wall segment, the first and second part circular segments having a common center with the radius of the inner surface of the first part circular wall segment being slightly greater than the radius of the outer surface of the second part circular arm segment. Two such hinge members are required in forming a hinge formation to receive a pintle, one of the hinge members has its part circular arm segment connected to its part circular wall segment at the end adjacent the rear wall.
