Abstract: An optical multiplexer and methods of making and using the same are disclosed. The multiplexer generally includes a beam splitter and a polarization beam splitter. The beam splitter is generally configured to combine first and second polarized optical signals by reflecting a first polarized optical signal towards a first target and allowing a second polarized optical signal to pass through towards the first target. The polarization beam splitter is generally configured to combine the first and second polarized optical signals with a third polarized optical signal by either (i) reflecting the third polarized optical signal towards a second target and allowing the first and second polarized optical signals to pass through towards the second target, or (ii) reflecting the first and second polarized optical signals towards the second target and allowing the third polarized optical signal to pass through towards the second target.

Abstract: A compression foot garment is integrally knit of a body yarn, and adapted for wear on a foot of a user. The foot garment incorporates first and second high compression zones, and a compression release zone between the high compression zones. The first high compression zone is adapted for applying substantially circumferential compression to the foot below the plantar fascia between the calcaneus and metatarso-phalangeal joints and generally around the midfoot. The second high compression zone is adapted for applying substantially circumferential compression to the foot above the calcaneus and generally around an ankle of the user. The first and second high compression zones may comprise elastic yarns integrated with the body yarn. The compression release zone is adapted for applying reduced compression to the foot in an area between the first and second high compression zones.
Abstract: Methods, circuits, architectures, apparatuses, and algorithms for determining a DC level in an AC or AC-coupled signal. The method generally includes disabling the AC or AC-coupled signal; sampling the disabled AC or AC-coupled signal to obtain sampled DC values of the AC or AC-coupled signal; and calculating the DC level using the sampled DC values of the AC or AC-coupled signal. The present transmitter generally includes an electro-absorption modulated laser (EML); a photodetector; a signal source configured to provide an AC or AC-coupled signal to the EML; and a microcontroller or microprocessor configured to (i) control the signal source, (ii) receive information from the photodetector, and (iii) deactivate the signal source for a predetermined length of time. Abstract: A bi-directional fiber optic transceiver includes a laser diode, a photodiode, first and second lenses, all of which share a common linear optical axis, and a housing. The first lens may have transmission increasing film thereon. The second lens may have a reflection increasing film thereon. An optical splitter may be between the first and second lenses. The first and/or second lenses may be spherical, hemispherical or aspheric. The transceiver size is reduced so that a circuit board can accommodate more components or be smaller in size. Utilizing hemispherical lenses can greatly increase the coupling ratio of the optical links between the photodiode, fiber and laser diode. Utilizing aspheric lenses with high coupling can serve high power output requirements. Use of spherical lenses (which extend the focal length) with aspheric lenses enables LD TO assemblies in individual housings to serve in various products.
Abstract: Combustor (50) for use in a turbine (100). The combustor (50) comprising a multiple fuel atomizers (10) which has a gas inlet for feeding gaseous fuel as first combustible into an inlet zone of the atomizer, an air inlet for feeding compressed air into the inlet zone, and an orifice for injecting a liquid fuel as second combustible into the inlet zone. The atomizer comprises a diffuser for emitting a gas stream at an exit side. The atomizer (10) is arranged with respect to a combustion chamber of the combustor (50) so that the exit side of the diffuser points in a tangential direction relative to the combustion chamber. The combustor (50) comprises an outlet duct (51) for discharging an exhaust gas produced by a combustion process of the gas stream inside the combustion chamber. The exhaust gas drives a turbine (63).

Abstract: Methods and apparatuses for reducing the sensitivity of an optical signal to polarization. The method generally includes (i) reflecting the optical signal from a first mirror at a first angle relative to the optical signal to a second mirror at a second angle, and (ii) further reflecting the reflected optical signal from the second mirror to a receiver. The apparatus generally comprises (i) a first mirror at a first angle relative to an incident optical signal and configured to reflect the incident optical signal, (ii) a second mirror at a second angle configured to further reflect the reflected optical signal to a first receiver, and (iii) a lens configured to focus and/or collimate the optical signal or the reflected optical signal. The first angle is configured to reduce polarization of the reflected optical signal, thereby maximizing the intensity or power of the optical signal.
Abstract: A multi-channel optical device and method of making the same are disclosed. The optical device includes a plurality of detectors on a detector mounting substrate, and a corresponding plurality of lenses on an interior surface of the optical device. Each detector detects light having a unique center wavelength. Each center wavelength corresponds to a channel of the optical device. Each lens focuses light towards a corresponding detector. Each detector has a location corresponding to a focal point of the light focused by a corresponding lens. The method of making the optical device includes placing lenses on a surface of the optical device housing, transmitting light having a plurality of center wavelengths through the lenses, determining locations on a detector mounting substrate where each light beam is focused by a lens, and placing a detector at each location.
Abstract: The disclosure provides a dimmable torch, in order to overcome the insufficiency of the dimming control function of the torch in the prior art. The torch comprises a lamp holder (1), a tube body (3) and a tail cap (5), wherein a battery (10) is arranged in the tube body (3); a control circuit (9) is arranged in the tail cap (5) of the torch; the second end (V?) of the control circuit is connected with the cathode of the battery (10); a microcomputer control system (8) on the control circuit (9) can control the on/off of a loop of the cathode of the second end of the driving circuit (11) and the cathode of the battery (10) to implement dimming. Due to the disclosure, the grouped multi-gear dimming mode of the torch can be controlled conveniently.

Abstract: An automatic darkening and glare reducing liquid crystal mirror for vehicles is disclosed. The mirror has a front substrate (101) of transparent glass or plastic and a back substrate (109) of glass or plastic with a highly reflective or transflective mirrored coating (108). The front and back substrates are spaced apart a small distance to define a liquid crystal cell between the substrates and a liquid crystal fluid (106) incorporating dichroic dyes is contained within the liquid crystal cell. A conductive thin film (102) is applied onto the interior surface of the front substrate and the reflective or transflective coating (108) of the back substrate also is conductive. An alignment compound is deposited on the conductive thin film (102) and on the reflective or transflective coating (108) and the alignment compound bounds the liquid crystal cell.

Abstract: Provided is a test method for optical detection of a cup bottom, including: providing an image capturing unit, producing a reference image data, performing a cup test, and performing compliance identification. With the test method, it is practicable to perform an effective test on a cup bottom of a cup under test quickly with an image capturing unit and by means of optical testing to reject non-complying products and collect good cups, thereby ensuring the high quality of the cups thus manufactured.
Abstract: Provided is a test method for sound wave detection of a cup bottom, including: providing a sound-collecting dish, producing a good voiceprint, testing a cup under test, and performing compliance identification.
