Abstract: The present invention provides an air-permeable filtration media that includes an air-permeable backing and an adsorbent. The adsorbent is at least partially embedded in the air-permeable backing. The present invention also provides a method of manufacturing an air-permeable filtration media. The present invention also provides a method of substantially removing contaminants from air, employing the air-permeable filtration media.

Abstract: High visual impact plastic packaging is described as well as methods for producing such packaging. Sealing portions of a package to each other in an interwoven manner is described. Printing on multiple surfaces of a package to obtain appealing visual effects is described. Methods of sealing plastic packages are described, including some that use heat sealing techniques. Plasticized or laminated paperboard materials can be used, as well as plastic materials such as mineral-based materials, polylactic acid, and recycled and/or recyclable polyurethane.

Abstract: A method and system for providing remote access to heterogeneous information sources from computing devices including but not limited to personal computers, laptop computers, PDAs, cellular telephones is presented. A middle-tier server is provided in a multi-tier environment for allowing a data-centric approach to accessing, modifying and updating content located at remote data sources. The middle-tier server provides functionality for a mobile (or similar) user to perform a search query, request for document and/or data, update remote data, and perform commands on remote data sources. In addition, the middle-tier server manages the authentication of the user in sessioned or sessionless mode. In particular, search query results are processed such that the results answer a search query. That is, rather than simply providing a list of document matches, the middle-tier server extracts information from the document that answers the search query most appropriately.

Abstract: A cooler pad for supporting a notebook computer on a user's lap is disclosed to include a soft pad having an accommodation space, a cooling fan mounted in the accommodation space, two slotted cover plates attached to the top and bottom sides of the accommodation space and fastened together to hold down the cooling fan in the accommodation space for enabling the power cord of the cooling fan to be extended to the outside of the soft pad for connection to the notebook computer to obtain the necessary working voltage for the cooling fan during operation of the notebook computer.

Abstract: A method for manufacturing a part selected from a plurality of part types is disclosed. The method involves the step of selecting, from a supply of workpieces, a workpiece of a type that is associated with the type of part selected, the workpiece having a void and a substantially annular outer surface. Using a lathe, the selected workpiece is machined into the selected part. The workpiece, during the machining step, is mounted to the lathe by a collet associated with the type of part selected. The collet is an expanding collet which, during machining, is received by the void and engages the workpiece in gripping relation. The part can be a bushing for an aircraft landing gear and the workpiece can be an oversized bushing. The method can be carried out at an aircraft repair facility and the oversized bushings can be procured from specialist fabricators.

Abstract: The invention provides a battery device and a method for packaging, disassembling, and recycling the battery device, wherein the anode conductive element is disposed in a reaction trough frame with a bump thereof protruding from the frame; two sets of the cathode conductive elements cover on a first opening and a second opening of the reaction trough frame, respectively, so as to form a reaction region for accommodating electrolyte therein; and a metallic fastener is disposed on surfaces of the cathode conductive elements and the reaction trough frame and fastened with a buckling member. The invention provides a simple structure that can be packaged rapidly, disassembled and recycled to thereby overcome the drawbacks of conventional batteries.

Abstract: An apparatus and a method for sampling from a product flow, where the sampling is performed continuously and where the product is collected in a cup for determining physical conditions, for example, weight in relation to volume, and where the cup is emptied after ending the sampling. The apparatus is provided with at least one sampling cup provided with a filling opening and an emptying opening with different cross-sectional areas. It is not necessary to perform a turning movement of the sampling cup in order to empty it. Instead, preferably, the sampling cup is emptied by opening/uncovering the bottom. Emptying of the cup and subsequent cleaning of the cup are effected with open bottom by passage of the product flow through the cup; but, emptying may also occur in a separate duct.

In other aspects, a connector may be attached to a cradle or display case where the RF enabled device is separately disposed. The connector may provide the RF signal to the RF enabled device via electromagnetic coupling and/or through an external RF antenna coupling.

Abstract: An apparatus for selectively fracing a well includes a tubular body having an exterior surface, and an interior surface that defines an interior bore. An annular flow area that has at least one fluid flow port extends radially through the tubular body to permit fluids from the interior bore to pass through the at least one fluid flow port into a surrounding earth formation. An external sealing sleeve selectively covers the annular flow area. There is a pressure actuated sleeve shifting mechanism, where increasing pressure tending to cause axial movement of the external sealing sleeve. The axial movement is resisted until a pre-selected pressure threshold is reached to permit movement of the external sealing sleeve to open the at least one fluid flow port.

Abstract: A germicidal lamp having amalgam for controlling mercury vapor pressure contained in a location facilitating efficient high output operation. A low pressure mercury vapor discharge lamp has an amalgam container containing an amalgam positioned behind an electrode out of the arc path or space. The amalgam position is retained during high wall loading of the lamp preventing the amalgam from moving out of position. A heating and cooling element is placed generally at the amalgam position controlling the temperature of the amalgam. Efficient operation with high current loads and resulting high wall loading and temperatures is possible. The temperature control of the amalgam may also be used to dim or modify the illumination output of the lamp. The germicidal lamp is particularly suited to being positioned vertically in a waste water treatment system.

Abstract: A method is provided in various embodiments for determining a profile data set for a subject with breast cancer or conditions related to breast cancer based on a sample from the subject, wherein the sample provides a source of RNAs. The method includes using amplification for measuring the amount of RNA corresponding to at least 1 constituent from Tables 1-5. The profile data set comprises the measure of each constituent, and amplification is performed under measurement conditions that are substantially repeatable.

Abstract: A telescoping rod which can be telescoped between a minimum length and a maximum length is formed from three members two of which are shorter than and slidably mountable on a longer member. A telescoping rod can also be formed from five of the shorter members and two of the longer members with a minimum length equal to the maximum length of the rod formed from three members and a maximum length equal to 2½ times the minimum length of the rod formed from three members.

The adjustable shelf assembly may include at least one extension shelf unit, slidably oriented with respect to a central shelf unit such that the width and/or depth of the shelf may be adjusted. The adjustable shelf assembly may be adjusted without removing the shelf from the accompanying support structure or causing the central shelf unit to be moved. The adjustable shelf assembly may also include structure for receiving advertisements, product identifiers or the like.

Abstract: An improved anchoring system for fastening an elastomeric membrane to a roof comprises an anchoring plate with a top planar surface, spaced apart, raised sidewalls over which the membrane may be laid and at least one aperture for securing to a roof. Each sidewall has a retaining lip that extends inwardly from the top planar surface for retaining a spacing insert, a top surface of which has raised flanges, each flange having a retaining lip with a plurality of longitudinally extending gripper ridges. Preferably, the retaining lips on the spacing insert extend over the top surface of the anchoring plate and taper toward one another at one or more areas between their end points. The system further includes a wedge for inserting into a cavity defined by the spacing insert.

Abstract: A lamp is provided having terminal pins mounted on and extending outwardly along a longitudinal axis of an end cap of the lamp. The pins are offset relative to one another along the longitudinal axis. The end cap has semi-circular, parallel surfaces with an asymmetrical section or recess at one end, and the pins extend outwardly from the respective semi-circular, parallel surfaces. A barrier wall extends substantially perpendicularly between the semi-circular surfaces.
