Abstract: A system and method for layer-by-layer quantification of the remodeling of the human fovea comprises finding a fixed reference point in inner retina, measuring the thickness of the inner retina at the fixed reference point, for a range of finely sampled distances starting from the fixed reference point, measuring the thickness, comparing the measured thickness with a normative base and obtaining a plurality of curves, evaluating area for each curve and defining a distance from the fixed reference having highest sensitivity with respect to the fixed reference point compared to the normative base, displaying a 3D re-creation of foveal architecture-based color-coded picture in accordance with the measured thickness at each finely sampled distance, entering the measured thickness into a model having parameters, obtaining numerical solutions for each parameter, and defining percent change of the parameters for the patient versus the parameters for the control.

Abstract: A pipelined processor comprising a cache memory system, fetching instructions for execution from a portion of said cache memory system, an instruction commencing processing before a digital signature of the cache line that contained the instruction is verified against a reference signature of the cache line, the verification being done at the point of decoding, dispatching, or committing execution of the instruction, the reference signature being stored in an encrypted form in the processor's memory, and the key for decrypting the said reference signature being stored in a secure storage location. The instruction processing proceeds when the two signatures exactly match and, where further instruction processing is suspended or processing modified on a mismatch of the two said signatures.

Abstract: A micromechanical structure, comprising a substrate having a through hole; a residual portion of a sacrificial oxide layer peripheral to the hole; and a polysilicon layer overlying the hole, patterned to have a planar portion; a supporting portion connecting the planar portion to polysilicon on the residual portion; polysilicon stiffeners formed extending beneath the planar portion overlying the hole; and polysilicon ribs surrounding the supporting portion, attached near a periphery of the planar portion. The polysilicon ribs extend to a depth beyond the stiffeners, and extend laterally beyond an edge of the planar portion. The polysilicon ribs are released from the substrate during manufacturing after the planar region, and reduce stress on the supporting portion.

Abstract: The physical manner in which the inflorescences on our new cultivar are displayed is unique as the flower heads are held erect on the rapidly elongating peduncles in the spring at nearly 90 degrees. When the telescoped vegetative bracts that protected the over-wintering flower buds have fallen, the rapidly growing peduncles elongate upward and the rapidly growing narrow pink-red floral bracts which are lightly attached at their apex enlarge upward until, with further growth, the floral bracts expand at an increased angle and look like butterflies perched on the vertical peduncles. The deep-cup shape of the floral bracts is unique among the comparative pink/red bracted clones of C. kousa ‘Rosea’, ‘Radiant Rose’, and ‘Heart Throb’ in the trade It's floral bracts are larger and darker than the C. kousa in the trade and holds its color longer than those of C. kousa which usually turn white.
