  • Patent number: 4328850
Abstract: A structure for a radial tire for trucks and buses having textile cords in its carcass ply layer and steel cords in its belt layer is disclosed. The tire of this invention has a tread angle within a certain range, which angle is taken such as to be constituted by a line directed from a width-end point of the tire to a width-end point of the tread and a line directed from the width-end point of the tread in the straight vertical direction. More specifically, the ratio of the width of the tread to the width of the tire is so arranged that the tread angle with full air pressure be 17.degree..+-.3.degree. and the difference between the tread angle with full air pressure and the tread angle with an air pressure of 0.5 kg/cm.sup.2 be 3.degree. or less.

  • Patent number: 4310043
Abstract: A radial tire for trucks and buses which includes a belt layer whose steel cords are disposed at an angle of 15.degree. to 25.degree. relative to the circumferential direction of the tire and a carcass layer whose cord material is selected from materials having a K value equal to 10 to 15 as calculated by the equation K=E/T, where E is the tensile modulus of the cord material in kg/mm.sup.2 and T is the breaking strength per unit area of the cord material in kg/mm.sup.2. In accordance with various disclosed embodiments, the belt layer may be a three ply structure with the outer two plies substantially parallel with one another to provide a higher resistance to shock bursts; separation in such a belt layer may be further restrained by making the sum of the cord end counts per unit width of the second and third plies 1.50 to 1.

  • Patent number: 4072926
Abstract: An apparatus which is responsive to fluid pressure for detecting and indicating visually and accoustically the variation of pressure conditions such as the underinflation of vehicle tires. The apparatus comprises pressure sensors, annular conductive members, at least a pair of confronting heads, response means and indicating means. When the tire air pressure is normal, since the impedance value of the conductive members does not vary, the indicating device is not actuated. However, if the air pressure within even one of the tires becomes abnormal, the apparatus performs as designed and a signal emitted by the indicating device informs the driver of the abnormality.
