Abstract: Provided herein are perfusion fluids for enzymatically cleaving A-antigens from a donor organ, and methods, uses, associated therewith. In particular, the perfusion fluids comprise two enzymes, GalNAcDeacetylase and Galactosaminidase and the fluids may further comprise a buffered extracellular solution and/or a crowing agent. Furthermore, the compositions described herein were found to have activity at temperatures and pH levels suitable for cell viability.

Abstract: A reactor that operates with ultraviolet light emitting diodes (UV-LEDs) to attain UV photoreactions or UV photo-initiated reaction in a fluid flow for various applications, including water purification. The UV-LED reactor is comprised of a conduit means for passing fluid flow, an ultraviolet light emitting diode (UV-LED), and a radiation-focusing element to focus the UV-LED radiation to the fluid in the longitudinal direction of the conduit proportionally to the fluid velocity in the cross section of the conduit.
Abstract: A method for the patterning and control of single electrons on a surface is provided that includes implementing scanning tunneling microscopy hydrogen lithography with a scanning probe microscope to form charge structures with one or more confined charges; performing a series of field-free atomic force microscopy measurements on the charge structures with different tip heights, where interaction between the tip and the confined charge are elucidated; and adjusting tip heights to controllably position charges within the structures to write a given charge state. The present disclose also provides a Gibb's distribution machine formed with the method for the patterning and control of single electrons on a surface. A multi bit true random number generator and neural network learning hardware formed with the above described method are also provided.

Abstract: Provided are transgenic organisms, such as plants and plant parts, cells, and related compositions and methods for producing and monitoring the genotype for enhanced production of montbretin A and/or its precursors. For example, provided is a transgenic organism comprising at least one heterologous nucleic acid operatively linked to a promoter, wherein the heterologous nucleic acid encodes at least one enzyme in a montbretin A (MbA) metabolic pathway. The organisms can be a plant, plant part, or plant cell, or a microorganism such as a yeast. Also provided is a method for producing at least one montbretin A (MbA) precursor and/or MbA, comprising permitting the expression of the at least one heterologous nucleic acid in the transgenic organism. The disclosure also provides isolated nucleic acid molecules that comprise sequence encoding at least one enzyme in a montbretin A (MbA) metabolic pathway and vectors comprising the nucleic acids.

Abstract: A computer-implemented system for facilitating echocardiographic image analysis is disclosed. Abstract: Provided herein are compositions comprising: a scaffold polymer having one or more acryloyl groups or one or more methacryloyl groups; optionally a porogen and a crosslinking agent, compositions that upon crosslinking form a hydrogel for use in cell encapsulation and methods for immunocytochemistry of encapsulated cells. Scaffold polymers used are selected from: Poly(ethylene glycol) diacrylate (PEGDA); Poly(ethylene glycol) dimethylacrylate (PEGDMA); Poly(ethylene glycol) methyl ether acrylate (PEGMEA); Poly(ethylene glycol) methacrylate (PEGMA); and Poly(ethylene glycol) methyl ether methacrylate (PEGMEMA), and porogens selected from: Poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG); Chitosan; Agarose; Dextran; Hyaluronic acid; Poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA); Cellulose and derivatives thereof; Gelatin and derivatives thereof; and Acrylamide and derivatives thereof. The invention also provides, at least in part, compositions for forming a porous hydrogel around a cell suitable for immunostaining of cells within the hydrogel.
Abstract: Microfluidic devices and methods for perfusing a cell with perfusion fluid are provided herein, wherein the gravitational forces acting on the cell to keep the cell at or near a retainer or a retaining position exceed the hydrodynamic forces acting on the cell to move it toward an outlet. Also provided, are methods for assaying cell products within the microfluidic device.

Abstract: A method for refining lithium from a crude brine includes charging a crude brine into a feeder tank held at a temperature T1 and containing a sufficient carbonate source to precipitate all carbonate-forming solids in the crude brine to form a precipitate mixture and a crystal free supernatant; pumping the crystal free supernatant from the feeder tank to a first crystallization reactor that is held at a temperature T2 to crystallize a lithium carbonate salt out of the crystal free supernatant; wherein the temperature T1 is lower than the temperature T2; and controlling a flow rate to maintain a steady state concentration of the lithium carbonate salt in the solution phase of the crystallization reactor.
