Abstract: A first method includes detecting, based on sensor data, an environment state; selecting an action based on the environment state; determining an autonomy level associated with the environment state and the action; and performing the action according to the autonomy level. The autonomy level can be selected based at least on an autonomy model and a feedback model. A second method includes calculating, by solving an extended Stochastic Shortest Path (SSP) problem, a policy for solving a task. The policy can map environment states and autonomy levels to actions and autonomy levels. Calculating the policy can include generating plans that operate across multiple levels of autonomy.

Abstract: In a neural network (NN) based wireless communication system, a BS determines, for an one-round latency T and an overall model size L of the NN model, i) Tu that makes {circumflex over (L)}*(Tu) larger than L and ii) Tl that makes {circumflex over (L)}*(Tl)<L; repeats determining {circumflex over (L)}*(Tm), {R*k,n}, {{circumflex over (L)}*k}, and {C*k,n} by using Tm=(Tu+Tl)/2 for k=1, K, and n=1, . . . N, while Tu is different from Tl; allocates NN model parameters to user equipments 1 to K based on {R*k,n}, {L*k}, and {C*k,n} determined based on Tm when Tu=Tl; and updates the NN model based on update results of the NN model parameters received from user equipments 1 to K.

Abstract: A hollow light-weight, low-cost, and high-performance 3D Luneburg lens structure using partially-metalized thin film, string, threads, fiber or wire base metamaterial to implement the continuously varying relative permittivity profile, characteristic of Luneburg lens structures, is disclosed. The hollow light-weight lens structure is based on the effective medium approach and may be implemented by a number of means. Further, most of the volume of the lens structure is free-space, thus the weight of the lens is significantly less than conventional 3D Luneburg lens structures of the same dimensions.

Abstract: An electrochemical reactor for use with a liquid electrolyte is capable of generating gaseous products. An electrically conducting porous layer that is hydrophilic on the catalyst side and hydrophobic on the gas side are utilized. These different surface properties promote the transport of product gases formed at the catalyst through the porous layer to the gas side. The catalyst is formed from a hybrid Cu2O—CuBr film that has a high selectivity for ethylene gas from reacting CO2 and water in an electrochemical cell.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to methods and products for reducing the viability of microorganisms, and to methods and products for preventing and/or treating microorganism infections. Certain embodiments of the present disclosure provide a method for reducing viability of a microorganism. The method comprises exposing the microorganism to an effective amount of an iron chelator and subsequently exposing the microorganism to an effective amount of a non-iron porphyrin, thereby reducing the viability of the microorganism.
Abstract: A vehicle traversing a vehicle transportation network may use a scenario-specific operational control evaluation model instance. A multi-objective policy for the model is received, wherein the policy includes at least a first objective, a second objective, and a priority of the first objective relative to the second objective. A representation of the policy (e.g., the first objective, the second objective, and the priority) is generated using a user interface. Based on feedback to the user interface, a change to the multi-objective policy for the scenario-specific operational control evaluation model is received. The change is to the first objective, the second objective, the priority, of some combination thereof. Then, for determining a vehicle control action for traversing the vehicle transportation network, an updated multi-objective policy for the scenario-specific operational control evaluation model is generated to include the change to the policy.

Abstract: There is a photovoltaic (PV) panel 10 including an array of photovoltaic (PV) elements (12). Each PV element (12) is stand alone and can be electronically addressed individually. The PV panel (10) also includes a number of spectral filters (14), in this example, a red filter (14r), a green filter (14g) and a blue filter (14b) arranged over some of the PV elements (12) to filter out the red, green and blue spectral components from white (combined red, green and blue) light emitted from a red-green-blue (RGB) transmitter. Data can be transmitted by modulating the spectral components of the RGB transmitter such that the data in each of the spectral components can be recovered from the electrical signal generated by the PV elements (12).
