  • Patent number: 10057634
Abstract: In a video delivery environment where a channel change in an audio/video receiver starts with a burst delivery of an audio/video stream to the receiver, characteristics of the audio/video stream are determined such as audio-video drift and burst characteristics in terms of duration of excess data delivery. At least one of these characteristics determines an offset to add to an initialization of a decoder clock, so that moving images are shown as early as possible after receipt of the channel change command, to be joined by lip synchronized audio before burst end.

  • Patent number: 10057626
Abstract: Television broadcast standards are continuously improved and new standards are introduced, often with increased resolution. Many users keep their television set that cannot take advantage of the improvements. However, in a case where a higher resolution video signal is available, additional services can be provided to the users of standard resolution television sets. A method for displaying a video comprises steps of enabling a user to define (71) first view settings, applying (72) the first view settings to a first view of a first video scene, determining (73) a first camera corresponding to the first view, storing (74) the first view settings, after a scene change towards a new scene detecting (76) that the new scene corresponds to the first view, and automatically applying (78) the first view settings for displaying the new scene.

  • Patent number: 10055893
Abstract: A method and device for rendering a scene including one or more real objects is described. A virtual object is associated with each real object, a virtual object associated with a real object corresponding to a virtual replica of this real object. The virtual replica is used to render a transformation that may be applied to the real object when for example hit by a virtual object, the virtual object then replacing the corresponding real object within the scene. To bring realism to the scene, texture information obtained from image(s) of the real object(s) is used to texture the visible part(s) of the transformed virtual object(s). The texture information is selected in the images by using information on the visibility of the parts of the real object(s) that correspond to the visible parts of the transformed virtual object(s).

  • Patent number: 10049688
Abstract: A method of handling telephone on-hold music, provided by a second party to a first party on a telephone connection between the first and the second party, includes detecting on-hold music, and providing, while on-hold music is detected, and to the first party, content from a source that is independent from the second party. A length of the most recently received audio signal originating from the second party is continuously stored. When on-hold music is no longer detected, voice information is retrieved from the stored length of the most recently received audio signal, providing, to the first party, content from a source that is independent from the second party is stopped, and the retrieved voice information is reproduced to the first party, wherein a time offset that corresponds to a time period required for detection of on-hold music is present.

  • Patent number: 10051115
Abstract: A terminal for use in a communications network for calling a called party includes a capture buffer for storing a media stream, including a voice command, received from the caller. A session controller in the terminal controls call handling and launches the call from the caller to the called party in accordance with the voice command. Responsive to the session manager, a stream controller will transmit the media stream from the capture buffer to the called party following set up of the call. In this way the called party may identify the caller voice and screen the call. Silence intervals in the media stream are detected and suppressed.

  • Patent number: 10049241
Abstract: A radio frequency identification (RFID) reader identifies in which room among several rooms the RFID reader is more likely to be located. The RFID reader includes a transmitter for transmitting an interrogating radio frequency (RF) signal. It includes a receiver for receiving RF signals generated in corresponding pairs of RFID tags. The RFID tag pairs are attached to corresponding regions of each of the rooms. Each of said RFID tag pair including a first RFID tag and a second RFID tag that are spaced from each other by a distance that is larger or equal to ?/4 and smaller than or equal to ?/2 with respect to a frequency of a responding RF signal originated in the pair of RFID tags. A processor selects a larger RSSI of the RSSI's of the signal pair. The processor determines a corresponding sum of the RSSI's selected from each signal pair associated with each room. The processor evaluates in accordance with determined sums, the location in which said RFID reader is more likely to be located.

  • Patent number: 10044633
Abstract: A device of a network configured for implementing a method for distributing available bandwidth of the network amongst ongoing traffic sessions of devices of the network is described. The device includes a communication module, a ranking module, a calculator and a comparator. The communication module collects status messages from devices of the network running at least one traffic session. The ranking module is configured to rank the ongoing traffic sessions according to parameters of devices and traffic sessions retrieved from status messages. The calculator is configured to determine bandwidth to be allocated to each ranked traffic session in function of the available bandwidth, a rank of the ranked traffic sessions and a type of the ranked traffic sessions. The comparator checks whether the determined bandwidth to be allocated to a traffic session of the device is different from zero such that available bandwidth can be distributed amongst ongoing traffic sessions.
