  • Patent number: 9947106
Abstract: A method and an electronic device for object tracking in a sequence of light-field captures. A data acquisition unit acquires a sequence of light-field captures, wherein each light-field capture comprises a plurality of views. A feature determining unit determines features of an initial visual appearance model for an object of interest in a reference view of a first light-field capture. A feature matching unit matches the features in the reference view and in the further views of the first light-field capture. A feature discarding unit discards features that cannot be well matched in all views of the first light-field capture. An appearance model building unit builds an updated visual appearance model for the object of interest based on the remaining features. Finally, a movement tracking unit tracks the movement of the object of interest in the sequence of light-field captures using the visual appearance model.

  • Patent number: 9948909
Abstract: The present invention generally relates to COLOR transfer between two images. COLOR transfer is a known technic consisting in modifying the COLORs of a source image by applying the COLOR palette of an example image without changing the source image structure. A lot of COLOR transfer method are known which consist in transferring COLORs between two images, however, those methods do not preserve the quality of the bokeh in areas of an images that are not in focus at a given depth. This results in a navigation in the depth dimension that is not smooth. It is proposed to modify the COLORs of a focal stack of a scene according to a COLOR palette by propagating the COLORs of the pixels in focus in different layers of the reCOLORed focal stack to the layers of the reCOLORed focal stack located behind the layer wherein a considered pixel is in focus.

  • Patent number: 9942558
Abstract: Various implementations are directed to providing inter-layer dependency information. In one implementation, syntax elements are generated that indicate an inter-layer dependency structure among three-dimensional video (3DV) layers. Based on the inter-layer dependency structure, an inter-layer reference is identified for a picture from a layer of the 3DV layers. The picture is encoded based, at least in part, on the inter-layer reference. Corresponding decoding implementations are also provided. Additionally, in another implementation, a transmission priority and an indication of network congestion are used to determine whether to transmit data for a particular 3DV layer. The transmission priority is based on an inter-layer dependency structure among multiple 3DV layers. Another implementation is directed to a network abstraction layer unit that can explicitly identify and convey inter-layer references and corresponding dependencies.

  • Patent number: 9936226
Abstract: Various implementations provide one or more of improved programming channel change time and/or overall quality of television reception by using multiple transmission channels. In one particular implementation, a first layer of a picture is encoded using a first level of error protection. The encoded first layer has a first decoding delay. A second layer of the picture is encoded using a second level of error protection. The encoded second layer has a second decoding delay. The second level of error protection is lower than the first level of error protection, and the second decoding delay is longer than the first decoding delay. Other implementations provide a signal or signal structure carrying the encoded first and second layers. Yet further implementations decode the encoded first and second layers.

  • Patent number: 9930329
Abstract: A particular implementation forms an initial reconstructed image block from inverse quantization and inverse transform, and further refines the reconstructed image block using pixels from neighboring reconstructed blocks. The image block may be refined using a bilateral filter, whose space parameter and range parameter are adaptive to the quantization parameter. The particular implementation can be used in both encoding and decoding when reconstructing an image block. When used in encoding, the particular implementation can be used jointly with coefficient truncation, where some non-zero transform coefficients are set to zero. The number of remaining non-zero transform coefficients after coefficient truncation may be adaptive to the quantization parameter, the variance of the image block, the number of non-zero transform coefficients of the image block, and the index of the last non-zero transform coefficient in a zigzag scanning order.
