  • Patent number: 6503959
Abstract: A photocurable composition comprising (A) an &agr;-cyanoacrylate and (B) a metallocene compound comprising a transition metal of Group VIII of the periodic table and aromatic electron system ligands selected from &pgr;-arenes, indenyl, &eegr;-cyclopentadienyl. The photocurable composition may further comprise (C) a cleavage-type photoinitiator. The photocurability of the photocurable composition can be greatly improved by incorporating a cleavage type photoinitiator into the composition. Even when the composition contains a radical-polymerizable compound such as an acrylic compound, it can be rapidly cured due to the cleavage type photoinitiator contained therein. In the case where the cleavage-type photoinitiator used is a peroxide, heating can also be used to cure the composition. In the case where the cleavage type photoinitiator used is an azo compound, the composition can be foamed by regulating the addition amount of the photoinitiator or the quantity of light with which the composition is irradiated.

  • Patent number: 6146789
Abstract: In a battery in which a metallic battery case for accommodating electricity-generating elements also serves as an electrode, a visible-light or near-infrared-light curing resin is used for providing a coating to insulate an end face and a peripheral edge portion of an opening portion of the battery case or a gap between a positive electrode and a negative electrode. The visible-light or near-infrared-light curing resin excels in a depth-curing characteristic as compared with a conventional ultraviolet curing resin, and cures well even up to a portion such as an insulating seal of a battery where a light-receiving port is light and the light is difficult to reach. Hence, the visible-light or near-infrared-light curing resin is prevented from becoming peeled off and provides a reliable insulting characteristic.

  • Patent number: 6082888
Abstract: A pump unit is provided which sucks a material having a high viscosity contained in a container and to pump it to a nozzle under pressure. An axial member which performs sucking and pumping of the material is connected with the pump unit. The axial member is axially slidable by the pressure of air supplied to the cylinder. The material which is sucked into the pump unit is discharged from the nozzle by the increase in pressure occurred when the axial member descends. A sensor is provided in the vicinity of the axial member. A result of detection of the sensor is supplied to a controller. A reference speed when constant rate application is performed is presettable in the controller. Correction of pressure is conducted by comparing the actual moving speed of the axial member with the reference speed.
