  • Patent number: 4956826
Abstract: A clock circuit for driving a clock movement such as a bipolar clock contains a memory which is programmed to automatically adjust the clock movement for standard and daylight saving time adjustments. The circuit is normally powered from the AC power line but includes a battery backup and is designed to run the clock circuit uninterruptedly for its entire life without needing used initiated adjusting or actuating.

  • Patent number: 4877236
Abstract: A rotating user-propelled playground equipment assembly or whirl including an equipment support base, a spindle secured to the support base, a rotatable platform assembly supported at least in part by the support base. The rotatable platform assembly includes a hub assembly rotatable about the spindle. A pressure wheel is positioned to constantly rollingly engage the hub assembly. A compression spring urging mechanism is connected to the pressure wheel and urges the pressure wheel into rolling engagement with the hub assembly and thereby automatically retards the rotation of the rotatable platform assembly about the spindle.

  • Patent number: 4768178
Abstract: A method and apparatus for synchronizing a clock to broadcast time-based signals, said time-based signals including encoded timing information, the method comprising the steps ofreceiving said time-based signals, decoding said time-based signals to derive a plurality of digits from said timing information representing actual clock time, andseparately verifying the correctness of each of said digits, said correctness verifying step including the steps of separately comparing each said derived digit with at least one corresponding previously decoded derived digit and verifying said derived digit when it meets a predefined verification test based on the consistency of said derived digit with said at least once corresponding previously decoded derived digit, repeating said comparison and verifying steps as said time-based signals are decoded until each said derived digit has been separately verified, and generating a lockon signal when all of said derived digits have been verified.

  • Patent number: 4728098
Abstract: A rotating user-propelled playground equipment assembly or whirl including an equipment support base, a spindle secured to the support base, a rotatable platform assembly supported at least in part by the support base. The rotatable platform assembly includes a hub assembly rotatable about the spindle. A hydraulic brake is used to automatically retard the rotation of the rotatable platform assembly about the spindle. The hydraulic brake includes a drive gear secured to and rotatable with the hub assembly, a pump mechanism driven by the drive gear for slowing the rotation of the rotatable platform assembly, and a connecting mechanism for operatively connecting the drive gear and the hydraulic pump mechanism.

  • Patent number: 4639144
Abstract: A novelty wrist watch includes an enlarged digital display, a printed circuit board carrying timing and display driving circuitry and a power supply, all of which are carried in a two part molded plastic case. An upper case section carries and frames the digital display and a lower case section carries the board and power supply. Extending parallel to and spaced from the ends of the lower case section is a strap retainer which is joined to the side edges of the lower case. The lower case together with the strap retainers are unitarily formed of one piece. A one piece wrist watch strap is threaded through the space between each retainer and its respective case end and beneath the bottom of the lower case.

  • Patent number: 4569113
Abstract: A method of making a seat for a recreational swing set. A band of flexible material is flexed along a length thereof into a bowed orientation. At least one strand of flexible material is positioned along the length of this bowed band, and the ends of the strand are secured to the bowed band. The bowed band with the strands secured thereto is then allowed to flex back to its normal unflexed condition, placing the strand in tension and causing it to lie along the length of the band. The band with the strand secured thereto is then embedded in a body of flexible material.
