  • Patent number: 7236148
Abstract: Light-emitting elements disposed on a light-emitting display panel are driven by constant currents, and the forward direction voltages of the light-emitting elements are obtained by a sampling/holding circuit. Then, the voltage output from a drive voltage source composed of a DC-DC converter is controlled by the forward direction voltages obtained by the sampling/holding circuit. For example, in a case in which the light emission luminance of the light-emitting display panel is changed or in other case, a sampling and holding operation is executed by the sampling/holding circuit in response to a control signal from a sampling timing control circuit at intervals shorter than ordinary intervals. With this arrangement, when light emission luminance of a light-emitting display panel is changed, the gentle changing characteristics of the light emission luminance thereof can be improved.

  • Patent number: 7211938
Abstract: A double-sided display device includes a pair of substrates, on which self-emitting elements are formed respectively, being bonded to each other. A lead wiring section of the self-emitting element area formed on one of the substrates and a lead wiring section of the self-emitting element area formed on the other substrate are formed on the same side of the substrates. Each of the lead wiring sections is formed in a part of the side of each of the substrates. In addition, cutout portions are formed in parts of the sides of the substrates where the lead wiring sections are not formed. Thus, in the double-sided display device, the lead wiring sections formed on ends of substrates can be easily connected with a driving circuit component, a wiring substrate or the like, while the space for the double-sided display device can be reduced.

  • Patent number: 7212179
Abstract: A correction voltage retaining capacitor C2, a correction voltage write transistor Tr4, and a switching transistor Tr5 are added to a pixel structure of an SES drive method provided with an organic EL element E1 as a light emitting element, a light emission drive transistor Tr1, a data write transistor Tr2, and an erase transistor Tr3 which can erase electrical charges in a light emission maintaining capacitor C1. With the ON operation of the erase transistor Tr3, the correction voltage write transistor Tr4 is turned on, and the switching transistor Tr5 is turned off. In this state, the threshold voltage (Vth) of the light emission drive transistor Tr1 is written in the correction voltage retaining capacitor C2. When pixels are lit, by a gate-to-source voltage obtained by adding the threshold voltage written in the correction voltage retaining capacitor C2 to a data voltage written in the light emission maintaining capacitor C1, drain current of the light emission drive transistor Tr1 flows.

  • Publication number: 20070085785
Abstract: A drive apparatus is provided which can calculate a suitable APL value when driving a color display panel using PLE control. Further, a drive apparatus is provided which can inhibit output capacity of a power supply circuit by controlling display brightness according to a lighting rate of a pixel. An APL calculation means 20 is provided with a weighting means 22A for performing weighting according to a light emitting current rate of each color at the time of displaying a gray scale with respect to a picture signal of each of the colors R, G, and B. Being averaged by an averaging means 23, each signal weighted by this weighting means 22A acquires an APL value. The peak brightness control means 29 is controlled using this APL value so that PLE operation of controlling a peak brightness of the picture signal is realized.

  • Publication number: 20070081692
Abstract: A speaker device includes a magnetic circuit, a vibration system, a frame and a terminal. The frame is formed into a frame shape, and an inner wall thereof holds the magnetic circuit. Particularly, the frame has an opening for ventilation, which makes a rear surface positioned on a side opposite to a sound output direction and a side surface curved to a direction of the sound output direction from a peripheral end of the rear surface communicate with each other, and the terminal covers the opening on the rear surface of the frame. Therefore, the opening is provided on the side surface of the frame, and ventilation performance of the speaker device is ensured. In addition, by such amount that no opening is provided on the rear surface of the frame, a setting space of the terminal can be enlarged on the rear surface of the frame.

  • Patent number: 7195826
Abstract: The new organic electroluminescent display device has a carrier-transporting layer and/or an organic luminous layer composed of a nematic liquid crystal or a liquid crystal dispersing a carrier-transporting low-molecule therein. When the organic luminous layer is to be bestowed with faculty as a liquid crystal, it is made of a nematic liquid crystal. Both the carrier-transporting layer and the organic luminous layer may be bestowed with faculty as a liquid crystal. Since the liquid crystal is incorporated in the carrier-transporting layer and/or the organic luminous layer, the display device can be driven as a liquid crystal display device in a dark place by charging with a voltage lower than a light emission initiating potential. Of course, it is driven as an electroluminescent display device when it is charged with a voltage higher than the light emission initiating potential. Use of an electroluminescent liquid crystal as a organic luminous layer enables omission of a carrier-transporting layer.

  • Publication number: 20070063934
Abstract: One frame (period) is divided into a plurality of sub-frames including a lighting period and a non-lighting period for a pixel, and gradation control is carried out by selecting the above-mentioned sub-frames and by summing the lighting periods of the pixel within one frame period. In addition, proportions of the above-mentioned lighting period and the non-lighting period for every sub-frame are changed so as to perform selection operation of a gamma value of a gradation characteristic. A sum of the lighting periods within one frame period of the pixel at the time of setting the maximum gradation by way of the above-mentioned gradation control is set to be the same at the time of selecting any gamma value selected by the above-mentioned gamma value selection operation. Thus, it is possible to control luminosity changes generated when switching gamma values of gradation characteristics, especially at the time of the maximum gradation, and reduce degrees of a user's sense of incongruity.

  • Patent number: 7193157
Abstract: A flexible circuit board is provided to prevent unsuccessful interconnection between the wirings of the flexible circuit board and the output terminals of a semiconductor chip, the flexible circuit board having a plurality of sections of wirings of different sizes, each section including a pattern of wirings of the same size. The flexible circuit board has predetermined patterns of wirings on an insulating material base, and the wirings are electrically connected to the output terminals of a semiconductor chip. A pattern of the wirings of the same size forms a first wiring section, while another pattern of the wirings of the same size form a second wiring section. The flexible circuit board is provided with a pattern transition region between the neighboring wiring sections with wirings of different sizes to avoid unsuccessful interconnection which would be otherwise caused by the difference in size between the wirings.

  • Patent number: 7193589
Abstract: In a drive device for an active type light emitting display panel which can apply a reverse bias voltage to an EL element, in order to be able to compensate deterioration in light-emitting efficiency of the EL element accompanied by applying of the reverse bias voltage and the like, one pixel 10 is composed of a controlling TFT (Tr1), the driving TFT (Tr2), a capacitor C1, and the EL element E1. Switching switches SW1, SW2 mutually enables a supplying state of a forward current to the EL element E1 and an applying state of the reverse bias voltage to be selected. In one control form according to the present invention, when the applying state of the reverse bias voltage shifts to the supplying state of the forward current, by switching one switch first, the anode and cathode of the EL element E1 are made to the same electrical potential to allow electrical charges to be discharged.
