    Abstract: A monomeric mixture for a cured polymeric material used as organic glass includes an aromatic di(meth)allyl carbonate (I), an aliphatic di(meth)allyl carbonate (II) and di(meth)allyl carbonate (III) having aromatic and aliphatic moieties. The amount of the di(meth)allyl carbonate of formula (III) is 0.1 to 10 parts by weight per 10 parts by weight of the aliphatic di(meth)allyl carbonate of formula (II). The monomeric mixture retains its uniform state without phase separation during long-term storage and gives a cured polymeric material having excellent transparency.

    Abstract: A crystalline metal oxide in the form of a solid solution comprising an oxide of a metal of Group II of the periodic table, titanium oxide and silicon dioxide as main components and having main peaks at about 26.7.degree. and about 20.9.degree. in its Cu-K.alpha. X-ray diffraction pattern (2.theta.) and a specific refractive index. The crystalline metal oxide is produced, for example, by dissolving a compound of a metal of Group II of the periodic table, a hydrolyzable organic silicon compound and a hydrolyzable titanium compound in an organic solvent, hydrolyzing said starting compounds in said solution or after said solution is added to a separately prepared solvent incapable of dissolving the reaction product, thereby to form a sol- or gel-like product, and thereafter calcining the sol- or gel-like product at a temperature and for a period of time sufficient to crystallize said product.

The other end of each of the supply or discharge pipes in the anode or cathode chambers is inserted deep into the respective electrode chamber so that at least 50% of the electrical resistance of the liquid in each pipe exists in the electrode chamber, and the wall of the inserted portion of each pipe electrically insulates the liquid in the pipe from a liquid in the electrode chamber.

C. The calcium silicate and the calcium silicate-gypsum composite, which have a structure composed of an assembly of petal-like flakes, are useful as an adsorbent carrier, a delusterant or a filtration aid.
