  • Patent number: 5279879
Abstract: The present invention relates to a hybrid prepreg having reinforcing carbon fibers and foreign fibers. The carbon fibers have a diameter ranging from 5-30 microns and are unidirectionally arranged. The foreign fibers are composed either of single monofilaments having a diameter ranging from between about 50-150 microns or of strands formed by bundling together a plurality of single monofilaments having a diameter ranging from between about 5-50 microns. If strands are employed, they have a conversion diameter (D.sub.0) which is less than about 500 microns. The conversion diameter (D.sub.0) is represented by the following equation: ##EQU1## wherein n is the number of monofilaments used in forming the strand, and wherein d is the diameter of these monofilaments. Examples of foreign fibers which can be used when practicing this invention include boron fibers, metal fibers and organic fibers.

  • Patent number: 5185092
Abstract: The lubricating oil for refrigerator according to the present invention is a lubricating oil for refrigerator using 1,1,1,2-tetrafluoroethane refrigerant. Having esters as base oil, its viscosity range is between 2-30 mm/s at 100.degree.C. By adding esters alone or by adding esters having different viscosity to esters base oil, or by adding polymer, the viscosity is adjusted to obtain the lubricating oil suitable for various types of refrigerators. The lubricating oil thus obtained has excellent compatibility with 1,1,1,2-tetrafluoroethane refrigerant, which is an alternative to freon, and has low hygroscopic property and high heat-resistant property.By reducing the total acid number to 0.05 mg KOH/g or less, the corrosion-resistant property and insulating property of lubricating oil are not decreased, and the lubricating oil for refrigerator having having high refrigerant stability, hydrolytic stability and insulating property can be obtained.

  • Patent number: 5179923
Abstract: Fuel supply in an ultrasonic atomizer is conducted according to a fuel increment ratio pattern in which the increment of fuel in fuel increment control for starting and warming up is 70% or less of that in a typical conventional pressure injection valve system, thereby improving startability, accelerability and fuel consumption rate and further enabling a reduction in exhaust emissions. When the engine is started in low-temperature conditions, the fuel is supplied by continuous injection to make uniform and reduce the mean diameter of droplets of atomized fuel, thereby improving the ignitability and startability. The fuel injection start timing is varied in accordance with the combustion chamber temperature at the time of starting the engine, i.e.

  • Patent number: 5177578
Abstract: According to the present invention, a polycrystalline silicon thin film with a large crystal grain size is formed on a substrate, other than single crystalline silicon, e.g. on a glass substrate with a low strain point, by plasma CVD or photo CVD, and the polycrystalline silicon thin film thus obtained has a high (100) orientation percentage and a low (220) orientation percentage, a low hydrogen content, a low fluorine content in the film, and a large crystal grain size. It has excellent flatness and is suitable for microstructure fabrication and for the manufacture of a thin film transistor. Because a thin film transistor with a large area can be produced, it is also usable for many applications such as liquid crystal display. By introducing a high concentration of dopant into the interface region between the polycrystalline silicon film and the substrate, the growth of the polycrystalline grain is enhanced because the high concentration of dopant becomes the nucleus for crystal growth.
