  • Patent number: 4823733
Abstract: A conveyor hanger used for carrying an annular work which is to be painted through an electro-static painting station. The conveyor hanger includes an arm which is inclined from the horizontal and which has a sharp edge at a top of its cross-section. A liquid paint of little electro-conductivity attached to the arm will thus flow down along the arm and will not collect on the arm. Due to the sharp edged cross-section, even if the paint remains on the arm, abrasion between the work and the sharp edge of the arm will remove the remaining paint. Thus, good electro-conductivity between the work and the arm is obtained.

  • Patent number: 4821388
Abstract: A method for processing a nut seat formed around a bolthole on a wheel including the steps of drilling the nut seat and the bolthole substantially simultaneously with a step drill and performing roller burnishing on at least edge portions of the nut seat wherein the roller is rolled on the nut seat in the circumferential direction of the nut while the roller is pressed onto the nut seat. By roller burnishing, at least the edge portions of the nut seat are finished to a specular grade. The strength of the nut seat itself can be increased by the roller burnishing, thereby decreasing the required thickness of a light alloy wheel and the total weight of the wheel. In addition, the manhours for processing the wheel can be reduced.

  • Patent number: 4821865
Abstract: A delivering apparatus for selectively delivering a work conveyed from one inlet path to one of three paths. The delivering apparatus is disposed at an intersection of the inlet path and the exit paths. The delivering apparatus comprises a series of free rollers, a first stopper, and a series of chains. The series of free rollers can take upper and lower positions in a vertical direction between which an uppermost portion of the series of chains is positioned. When the series of free rollers takes the upper position and the first stopper is opened, the work is selectively conveyed out onto a first exit path which is located opposite to the inlet path. When the series of free rollers takes the lower position, however, the work is selectively conveyed out onto either a second exit path or a third exit path according to the rotational direction of the series of chains.

  • Patent number: 4821548
Abstract: An apparatus for chamfering through press forming edges of a rim element is provided upstream of a flaring machine for forming a rim shape on a disk wheel manufacture line. The apparatus includes a pair of edge rolls having vertically extending axes and having respective groove members formed therein. A wall of a rim element conveyed into the apparatus is axially squeezed between the edge rolls at the groove members thereof and the edges of the rim element is press formed. Since a rim element conveyed into the apparatus has still an axially straight extending wall, the rim element has a high rigidity in the axial direction of the rim element and therefore, an undesirable deformation does not occur in the rim element during the press forming.

  • Patent number: 4809529
Abstract: A flaring apparatus including at least one of die member positional adjustment apparatus and a defective rim element ejecting apparatus. The positional adjustment apparatus includes a connecting shaft provided between a die member mounting block and a link mechanism for moving the mounting block. The connecting shaft has shaft portions, axes of which are radially offset from each other. By rotating the connecting shaft, the die member position can be adjusted. Therefore, there is no need to provide a shim between the die member and the mounting block. The defective rim element ejecting apparatus includes a pressure sensing switch which can detect an increase in pressure within a space defined by a rim element and the die members during flaring.

  • Patent number: 4771535
Abstract: A disk insertion apparatus for inserting a disk into a rim element of a disk wheel. The disk insertion apparatus includes a first disk inserting machine for preliminarily inserting a disk into a rim element and a second disk inserting machine for completing the insertion of the disk into the rim element to a predetermined, final position. The second disk inserting machine is mounted downstream of the first disk inserting machine along the rim flow lines.

  • Patent number: 4739874
Abstract: A loading/unloading apparatus for loading/unloading a work on/from a moving hanger having a vertically extending support rod and an arm for carrying a work fixed at one end to the support rod. The apparatus comprises a truck, a rail extending in parallel with the arm, a framework slidably mounted on the rail, an upper work-holding device supported by the framework via a lifter, a lower work-holding means supported by the framework via clamp driving device, and a hanger clamping device means. Since the truck is driven at the same speed as the hanger, loading/unloading without stopping the conveyer is possible. Also, since the upper and lower work-holding device are moved in a direction parallel to the direction in which the arm extends, no interference between the work and the arm occurs during loading/unloading. Finally, since the apparatus includes a hanger clamping device means, inclination of the hanger during loading/unloading is prevented.
