Abstract: A composite molding comprising a silicone gel molding and a peelable film which does not suffer from the problems of adhesion of dirt and dust, adhesion of moldings to each other or deformation of moldings, and which has improved handling characteristics. The invention also covers a method for manufacturing such a composite molding.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a fiber treatment composition comprising a mixture of a dimethylpolysiloxane, a polyoxyalkylene-functional diorganopolysiloxane, and an amine-containing antioxidant or a phenol-containing antioxidant. The fiber treatment compositions of this invention exhibit excellent lubricity, static resistance, and long-term storage stability.
Abstract: A method for bonding substrates with silicone rubber substantially shortens the setting time and provides good bonding of the substrates with silicone rubber using a silicone rubber composition comprised of a thermal-crosslinking component and moisture-crosslinking component. The silicone composition is applied to a substrate, heated to give a silicone gel, subsequently brought into contact with another substrate, and is followed by moisture crosslinking to form a silicone rubber.
Abstract: There is disclosed a polymer composition which can cure rapidly to provide a release coating that has a low surface tension, said composition comprising:(A) a fluorine-containing polymer that contains at least 2 alkenyl groups in each molecule, said polymer being obtained by the copolymerization of(a) an acrylic monomer having the general formulaCH.sub.2 .dbd.CX--COOR'wherein X is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen and a methyl radical and R' denotes a monovalent hydrocarbon group having 4 to 15 carbon atoms which contain at least one --CF.sub.2 -- group, and(b) a silicone macromonomer with the general formulaCH.sub.2 .dbd.CX--COO--Q--(RMeSiO).sub.n --Me.sub.
Abstract: Disclosed is a highly reproducible method for the molecular weight fractionation of polyhydrogen silsesquioxane that gives a very storage-stable polyhydrogen silsesquioxane having a freely selectable molecular weight. The method involves dissolving polyhydrogen silsesquioxane in active-hydrogen-free nonpolar solvent; adding an active-hydrogen-free polar solvent to the resulting solution in order to precipitate polyhydrogen silsesquioxane; and collecting the desired molecular weight fraction of polyhydrogen silsesquioxane.

Abstract: An organopolysiloxane suitable for modifying curable organic and silicone compositions is disclosed, said organopolysiloxane having the general formula ##STR1## wherein each R.sup.1 is a monovalent group independently selected from the group consisting of hydrocarbon groups and halogenated hydrocarbon groups; R.sup.2 is selected from the group consisting of the hydrogen atom, monovalent hydrocarbon groups and halogenated hydrocarbon groups; R.sup.3 is selected from the group consisting of epoxy-functional organic groups, alkoxysilylalkyl groups and alkyl groups having at least 6 carbon atoms; a is zero or a positive number; b is a positive number; c is a positive number; a/c has a value of zero to <4; b/c has a value of 0.05 to 4; and (a+b)/c has a value of 0.2 to 4, with the proviso that neither R.sup.1 nor R.sup.2 is an alkenyl group and that said organopolysiloxane has in its molecule at least one said epoxy-functional organic group and at least one said alkyl group having at least 6 carbons.

Abstract: This invention provides method for the preparation of carbinol-modified organopolysiloxane which does not suffer from the secondary reaction problems of the art and which thereby makes possible the production of high-purity carbinol-containing organopolysiloxane.The method involves a platinum-catalyzed addition reaction of an organopolysiloxane having at least 1 silicon-bonded hydrogen atom in each molecule and an organic compound whose molecule contains at least 1 aliphatically unsaturated hydrocarbon group and at least 1 triorganosilyl-blocked carbinol group. Thereafter a desilylation reaction on the organopolysiloxane product is accomplished in an essentially water-free mixture of organic carboxylic acid and alcohol to provide carbinol-modified organopolysiloxane.
Abstract: A polycarbonate resin comprising (A) a thermoplastic resin comprising a polycarbonate resin as the main component thereof, (B) inorganic fillers and/or inorganic pigments and (C) an organopolysiloxane having an organoxysilyl group which is bonded to a silicon atom through a divalent hydrocarbon group is provided. The polycarbonate resin shows a lesser degree of molecular weight decrease, has excellent heat stability and moldability, and provides molded articles having excellent appearance, mechanical properties like impact resistance, degree of whiteness and color tone. The polycarbonate resin can be applied to production of various kinds of molded articles, such as molded articles in the field of office automation instruments, electric and electronic products, automobiles, mechanical products, building materials and the like.
Abstract: A method of improving the efficient depletion of the siloxane oligomer present in organopolysiloxane moldings by using supercritical carbon dioxide gas, so that this reduction in siloxane oligomer content is accomplished without cracking of the moldings by regulating the pressure reduction to less than 40 Kg/cm.sup.2 per 1 hour during the release to atmospheric pressure.
Abstract: Microparticles of a hydrosilylation catalyst encapsulated in a thermoplastic resin are prepared by forming a solution containing the hydrosilylation catalyst and a thermoplastic resin with a glass-transition temperature or softening point of 40.degree. to 200.degree. C. dissolved in a solvent, and then spraying this solution as droplets into a hot gas current in order to volatilize the solvent while solidifying said thermoplastic resin during entrainment of the droplets in the gas current.
Abstract: An organocyclosiloxane is disclosed which has both silicon-bonded alkoxy groups and organofunctional groups within each molecule. This cyclic siloxane finds utility as a coupling agent and has the general formula ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 is independently selected from the group consisting of a monovalent hydrocarbon group having 1 to 8 carbon atoms and a monovalent halogen-substituted hydrocarbon group having 1 to 8 carbon atoms, R.sup.2 is selected from the group consisting of an alkoxy group and an alkoxysilylalkyl group, R.sup.3 is an organofunctional group selected from the group consisting of glycidoxyalkyl groups, methacryloxyalkyl groups, N-(trialkylsilyl)aminoalkyl groups, (hydroxyphenyl)alkyl groups, and haloalkyl groups and n and m each represent an integer having a value of 1 to 6 with the proviso that n+m is an integer with a value of 3 to 8.
Abstract: The compression set values of elastomers prepared from organosiloxane compositions that cure by a platinum-catalyzed hydrosilylation reaction are substantially reduced by the presence in said compositions of a phthalocyanine compound or a metal derivative of such a compound, where the metal is copper, nickel, cobalt or iron.
Abstract: The present invention is a silylating method employing of formula(CH.sub.3)(R)(R.sup.1)SiX ;where R is an isopropyl group, R.sup.1 is a monovalent hydrocarbon group having 2 to 6 carbon atoms, and X is a chlorine atom or bromine atom. The silylating agent of the present invention provide silylation product which is much more stable than the silylation product obtained with trimethylchlorosilane, and its protective group is as stable as the silylation product obtained from t-butyldimethylchlorosilane. Moreover, the present described silylating agents are characterized by an easier desilylation than the t-butyldimethylsilyl group.

The composition comprises (A) an organopolysiloxane resin consisting essentially of phenylsilsesquioxane units and dimethylsiloxane units; (B) an organosilane having trioxime or trialkoxy functionality; (C) a condensation catalyst; and, optionally, (D) at least one diorganopolysiloxane having hydroxyl or alkoxy terminal groups.

Abstract: A curable organopolysiloxane composition comprising an organopolysiloxane having higher alkenyl groups, an organohydrogenpolysiloxane crosslinker, and organopolysiloxane free of alkenyl groups and silicon-bonded hydrogen atoms, a platinum group metal-containing catalyst and an inhibitor therefor provides for the formation of a cured release film. When this composition is coated on the surface of any of various types of substrates, for example, paper, synthetic resin films, fibers, etc., and then heated for 10 to 20 seconds at 80 to 90 degrees Centigrade, it forms a cured film which manifests an extremely good release performance for tacky substances, such as, for example, pressure-sensitive adhesives, and the like, while at the same time evidencing an excellent adherence to the substrate itself. The compositions can be used with synthetic resin films, such as polyolefin, which are easily deformed by heat and with poorly heat-tolerant paper.
Abstract: The disadvantages associated with using a platinum-catalyzed hydrosilylation reaction to prepare sponge products from curable organosiloxane compositions can be overcome by microencapsulating the platinum-containing catalyst in a thermoplastic organic or organosilicone polymer.
Abstract: The silicone rubber obtained by curing in the presence of a platinum-containing catalyst a composition comprising an organopolysiloxane containing a plurality of lower alkenyl radicals and a organohydrogensiloxane consisting essentially of R.sub.3 SiO.sub.1/2 units, R.sub.2 SiO units, RHSiO units, and RSiO.sub.3/2 units in a specified molar ratio is uniquely suitable as the coating material for the press roll in the fixing assembly of an electrophotographic copier.
