  • Patent number: 4766193
Abstract: The silicone rubber adhesive of the present invention is composed of a particular organopolysiloxane, condensation reaction catalyst and organoperoxide in restricted blending ratios. As a result, a characteristic of the present invention is that various organic materials may be tightly and durably bonded to silicone rubbers by applying the adhesive of the present invention to the surface of a cured silicone rubber and laying on and then curing an organic material such as a synthetic rubber composition, for example, ethylene-propylene terpolymer rubber or chloroprene rubber, or a phenol resin, epoxy resin, etc. In addition, it is also a characteristic of the present invention that silicone rubber may be tightly bonded to various materials by applying the silicone rubber adhesive of the present invention to various organic materials as mentioned above, bringing a silicone rubber composition which contains a curing catalyst into contact and then curing.

  • Patent number: 4569870
Abstract: A jointed watertight, airtight, elastomer-coated material is described. The material consists essentially of a first elastomer-coated fabric material and a second elastomer-coated fabric material, said second material being overlaid at an edge over an edge of the first material. The overlaid portion of each material is laminated to the other with a pressure-sensitive adhesive intercalated between the two materials. The laminated portion is further bound with a fastener which penetrates across the laminated portion in an up-and-down manner. Typical fasteners are thread, rivets, or bolts. The jointed material can be further bound by a tacky tape which is adhered on the bound portion of one material and the unbound portion of the other material, covering the joint between the edges of the two materials. The jointed waterproof, airtight, elastomer-coated fabric material is particularly useful for air-supported structures.

  • Patent number: 4545506
Abstract: There is disclosed herein a gas pressure operated dispensing container for viscous liquids in which a collapsible compartment containing the liquid is mounted inside a pressurized canister and has an end closure fitted with a dispensing valve having a elastomeric valve seal inside the compartment. A rigid reinforcing ring frictionally engages the end closure and prevents collapse of the top portion of the collapsible compartment. The ring has one or more air passages extending from a point on its internal periphery below the area of engagement with the end closure to the top thereof. The air passages are, for example, longitudinal notches in the ring spaced around its circumference and serve to allow air to pass out of the compartment as the end closure is applied.

  • Patent number: 4535109
Abstract: Described is a method of producing silicone aqueous emulsion compositions which cure at room temperature by the removal of water to form elastomeric coatings or films with superior surface gloss, good adhesion to substrates, and rustproofness. The method prepares an emulsion of polydiorganosiloxane having at least two hydroxyl groups per molecule, colloidal silica or alkali metal silicate, curing catalyst, emulsifier, and water, the emulsion having a pH of from 9 to 12. After a period of ripening for a period of time, so that an elastomeric material will be formed when water is removed at room temperature, an amino-functional silane or its partial hydrolyzate is added to give the emulsion its improved properties.
