Abstract: The invention provides an electric power steering apparatus which can improve a steering feeling. In the electric power steering apparatus, in the case that once the electric abnormality is generated in the hardware such as the motor, the torque sensor or the like and an output of the assist force by the motor is reduced, however, the electric abnormality is thereafter dissolved due to some kind or another reason, the output of the assist force by the motor is increased immediately to an intermediate target value (within a broken line ?). Accordingly, it is possible to prevent such a steering feeling as the steering wheel becomes suddenly heavy.

  • Patent number: 6988933
Abstract: In a truing method and apparatus, an analyzing method is employed to calculate a truing shape from which a grinding surface having been trued with a grinding wheel being rotated at a low rotational speed during a truing operation is deformed to a desired shape due to centrifugal expansion depending on a rotational speed difference when the grinding wheel is rotated at a high rotational speed during a grinding operation. Then, with the grinding wheel being rotated at the low rotational speed, the grinding surface is trued with a truing roll to the calculated truing shape. As a result, the grinding surface of the grinding wheel being rotated at the low rotational speed is trued with the truing roll taking into consideration the centrifugal expansion of the grinding surface which takes place when the grinding wheel is rotatated at the high rotational speed during the grinding operation subsequent to the truing operation.

Abstract: Disclosed is a solenoid-operated valve which is capable of enhancing the responsivety of a device while an electric current applied thereto is in a low current range, and which is capable of preventing the device from vibrated by the fluid pressure fluctuation while in a high current range. A spool is received in a valve sleeve for regulating the pressure of fluid. A plunger is received in a stator that has a core provided with an annular projecting portion. A solenoid magnetizes the stator to attract the plunger so as to move the plunger into the annular projecting portion. The annular projecting portion is formed with a tapered portion and a thin cylindrical portion projecting from the rear end of the tapered portion. A step is formed on the outside of the annular projecting portion between the tapered portion and the thin cylindrical portion.

Abstract: A microcomputer includes an actual DUTY value detection section that detects an actual DUTY value ?x by measuring the ratio of time in which an output voltage of each phase becomes a power supply voltage in a cycle of a triangular wave. A dead time compensation computation section subtracts the actual DUTY value ?x from a DUTY instruction value ?x before correction, thereby computing a difference value ?x. Subsequently, the dead time compensation computation section adds the difference value ?x to dead time compensation amounts ?xp, ?xm, which have been used for correcting the DUTY instruction value ?x, thereby determining new dead time compensation amounts ?xp? and ?xm?. The dead time compensation amounts ?xp, ?xm stored in a memory are renewed with the new dead time compensation amounts ?xp?, ?xm?.

  • Patent number: 6983817
Abstract: A power steering device is provided which is capable of preventing a wrong operation from occurring in a steering control state even when an initial torque of torque detection was not detected normally due to a human error. Upon receipt of a trigger signal, a CPU reads an initial setting program from a program storage area of a ROM and executes the initial setting program in the following order of steps. That is, the CPU detects by torque detection an initial torque which is generated primarily by the cause of the difference between origin positions of a pair of resolvers 12, 12 which together with a torsion bar constitutes the torque detection. Then, the CPU operates an assist motor to rotate a steering handle from a neutral position a predetermined rotational angle in one direction about the handle axis to stop the steering handle at a first judgment position and detects a first judgment torque value by the torque detection with the steering handle being stopped at the first judgment position.

Abstract: When a variable value indicates that a steering characteristic is understeer, a control unit controls a variable transmission ratio device to change a second steering angle such that the greater the understeer indicated by the variable value, the smaller the steering angle of steered wheels relative to the turning angle of a steering wheel becomes. When the differentiated value of the variable value indicates that the understeer is changing to increase, a correction unit corrects the variable value such that the greater the degree of change of the understeer indicated by the differentiated value, the greater the understeer indicated by the variable value becomes. Hence, the attitude of a vehicle in understeer is stabilized with a simple configuration.

Abstract: A torque detection apparatus includes a resolver having a rotor core and a stator core, and a computation unit having a multiple rotation amount computation section, a multiple rotation amount accumulation section, and an abnormality determination section. The rotor core moves along the axial direction of a steering shaft in response to rotation of the steering shaft. Based on a change of a transformation ratio of the resolver caused by a change of the relative positions of the rotor core and the stator core along the axial direction due to movement of the rotor core, the multiple rotation amount computation section computes a first multiple rotation amount N of the steering shaft. The multiple rotation amount accumulation section detects the switchover point of the absolute angle ?0 when the steering shaft is rotated a single rotation, and computes a second multiple rotation amount N? by accumulating the number of detection of the switchover point.

Abstract: A main clutch is disposed radially outward on a differential mechanism. There is no need to reserve space to install the main clutch at the end of the differential mechanism opposite from a differential case. Thus, the axial length of an LSD can be reduced, providing easier installation in the vehicle. Also, the LSD is installed in the vehicle to the rear of a transmission. This location provides spatial leeway in the radial direction. As a result, ease of installation is maintained if the main clutch is disposed radially outward from the differential mechanism and the outer diameter of the LSD is increased. The present invention provides a drive force transmission device with reduced axial length, thereby improving ease of installation.
