    Abstract: In an automatic transmission including a torque converter, an overdrive gear mechanism, an underdrive gear mechanism, a planetary gear mechanism, a first input shaft for the overdrive mechanism connected with the torque converter, and a second input shaft for the underdrive mechanism, a support structure is provided which is formed with a radially outwardly extending wall axially located adjacent a spline which connects a ring gear of the planetary gear mechanism with the second input shaft, with the support structure also including an axially extending boss located at the radially inner end of the radially extending wall, the boss having the second input shaft rotatably supported therein with the piston of the servo mechanism for operating an overdrive brake of the overdrive mechanism being attached to the radially extending wall.

    Abstract: In an automatic transmission control system incorporating the conventional line, throttle, and governor fluid pressure regulation valves, mannual selector valve, and shift valves such as 1/2, 2/3, and 3/4 shift valves, there is further incorporated a modulator fluid pressure control valve which produces a modulator fluid pressure of a predetermined constant level from the line pressure available from a port of the manual selector valve when it is shifted to a lower range, such as, for example, 2 range. The line fluid pressure regulation valve, which is normally boosted by the throttle pressure, is instead boosted by the modulator fluid pressure when the modulator fluid pressure is present while the throttle fluid pressure is very low as at the time when the manual selector valve has been shifted from the D range to the 2 range for effecting rapid deceleration of the vehicle, so as to support the governor pressure, generated from the line pressure, at a high level while the vehicle speed is still high.

When the height or the eye position of the driver is calculated, the optimum angles are further calculated based on the calculated height or eye position.

The valve holding member has a valve mechanism which communicates the diaphragm chamber with the atmospheric pressure chamber at the first position and seals a channel between those chambers at the second position. The solenoid operated mechanism selectively communicates the diaphragm chamber with the atmospheric pressure chamber.
