  • Patent number: 4450528
Abstract: A calculation coefficient used in the arithmetic calculation for controlling the operation of an internal combustion engine is determined by using at least one coefficient stored in a fixed storage, in accordance with a binary number electrical signal. This signal is obtained by converting a variable instruction voltage from a voltage instructing device which can be easily operated. Therefore, by operating the voltage instructing device, the calculation coefficient used in the arithmetic calculation can be very easily changed within a very short period of time, without requiring any additional expense.

  • Patent number: 4447017
Abstract: A main shaft is threadably coupled to a base mounted on a vehicle body, and this main shaft is biased by a spring in the axial direction thereof. However, the main shaft is prevented from rotating by an arm tiltably supported on the main shaft being engaged with a stopper provided on the base. In an emergency of a vehicle, an acceleration sensor turns the arm to slip off the stopper to make the main shaft rotatable, whereby the main shaft rotatingly moves in the axial direction thereof. This moving force is transmitted to the webbing, whereby the webbing is retracted, so that the webbing can be closely fastened to an occupant.

  • Patent number: 4445481
Abstract: Engine parameter signals indicative of the operating condition of the engine and an air-fuel ratio signal indicative of whether the air-fuel ratio condition of the engine is on the rich side or the lean side relative to a stoichiometric condition are produced. When the engine operates under a predetermined state, the fuel feeding rate to the engine is controlled in response to the engine parameter signals and the air-fuel ratio signal, by a closed loop control operation, in order to determine a learning control correction factor F.sub.G. In the closed loop control operation, a feedback correction factor F.sub.B is calculated depending upon the air-fuel ratio signal, and the fuel feeding rate is corrected depending upon the calculated factor F.sub.B, so as to control the air-fuel ratio condition to a condition close to the stoichiometric condition. At the same time, the learning control correction factor F.sub.G is adjusted, so as to settle the feedback correction factor F.sub.

  • Patent number: 4442809
Abstract: An internal combustion engine comprises a cylinder block and a cylinder head. A combustion chamber is formed in the cylinder block and the cylinder head. An accumulation chamber is formed within the cylinder head and communicated with the combustion chamber via an operating valve. The accumulation chamber is disposed adjacent to an exhaust port of the engine and is heat exchangeable with the exhaust port. The operating valve is opened approximately at the time the compression stroke is commenced and is closed approximately at the time the compression stroke is completed. A cap is disposed at the entrance of the accumulation chamber and has a plurality of jets formed thereon. The compressed combustible gas mixture is accumulated within the accumulation chamber, heated by the heat transmitted from the exhaust port and spouted out into the combustion chamber, so that approximately uniform turbulences are generated in the combustion chamber and the flame speed is increased.

  • Patent number: 4441465
Abstract: A lash adjuster oil-supplying device has an oil path formed within the hollow center of a camshaft of an overhead camshaft-type engine. An oil jet hole is formed in said camshaft which communicates with said oil path. A first oil passage extends from a cylinder head through the camshaft housing to the camshaft, and a second passage extends from the camshaft through the camshaft housing to a passage for supplying oil to lash adjusters, which is formed in the cylinder head. Oil enters the oil path within the camshaft from the first oil passage, and, after passing through the oil path, is supplied to the passage for supplying oil to lash adjusters through the second passage. A portion of the oil passing through the oil path is ejected through the oil jet hole to lower and regulate the oil pressure supplied to the lash adjuster, independent of engine speed. This prevents pump-up of the lash adjuster without using a special oil-pressure regulator.

  • Patent number: 4440141
Abstract: Energizing interval of an ignition coil, which is basically determined on the basis of the rotational speed of an engine, is corrected by adding thereto an extension amount which is either a function of the rotational speed of the engine or a given upper limit value at the rotational speed of the engine when accelerating condition is detected. Thus, the ignition coil is supplied with a primary winding current for a desired interval even during acceleration so that sufficient ignition voltage will be produced to properly ignite air/fuel mixture in engine cylinders. The extended energizing interval is then reduced stepwise to provide normal energizing interval during engine operations other than acceleration.
